Open Thread | About All Those ‘ But, the young men are so lonely’ Articles…. | 3CHICSPOLITICO

I am tired of reading the articles about how all these young men are so ‘ lonely’.
How all these men, who support Trump, as having a hard time in the dating pool.

Inevitably, it always comes back to how young woman should just get over it, and get married already. How dare she have standards.

It’s all connected….be patient with me…

Others have talked about this before, but a lot of the anti-woman/anti-abortion talk is geared at keeping women barefoot and pregnant, stuck in relationships with men who can’t be bothered to be equal partners.

Abortion

Birth control

Attack on Affirmative Action (the largest beneficiary group of Affirmative Action are White Women)

Attack on no-fault divorce

All connected. All connected to removing women from the public sphere and back into the home, under some man’s control.

The endless questioning now, of the worthiness of a college degree, now that women and non-Whites are proliferating in college.

The bullshyt about whether college degrees should even be listed as a requirement for a job. These were only put in, because they saw it as a barrier to be places when Blacks began applying for jobs. But, now that non-Whites are meeting these objective basic requirements for jobs, they want to switch back to the old subjective ways. Back to the days of all you had to be was White and male to get the job. Note, I didn’t say White and Educated. Just White.

As for men, never in all these articles whining about the loneliness of men, do I see the suggestion that men go about the process of self-improvement so that they make themselves a more appealing partner prospect…

Good People Doing Good Things — Small, Yet Big! (Redux) | Filosofa’s Word

Benjamin Ball of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, is only 7-years-old, but is more environmentally savvy than most of us.  Not long ago, Benjamin and his family were visiting in New England and they stopped in at the L.L.Bean flagship store in Freeport, Maine.  When they decided to get a drink at the store’s café, Benjamin was not pleased to be given a plastic straw, and he asked if they had any paper straws.  (Ellen — this reminds me of your Benjamin!)

LLBeanThey didn’t, and so when Benjamin returned home, he wrote a letter to the president and CEO of L.L.Bean, Steve Smith.

“I’m writing to you because I’m a friend of the Sea Turtles and I want to protect them. Marine animals get killed by plastic in the Ocean. The Sea Turtles are important to the ecosystem and me. I know that L.L. Bean cares about the Earth too. If it is possible, could you use paper straws instead of plastic straws, please?”

Sea turtleWow … what a polite little activist!  Well, his efforts paid off, for within 24 hours, Benjamin received a response from Smith, who assured Benjamin he’d look into the issue.  Says Smith …

Hunger – Kaushal Kishore

In the pursuit of love and life’s grand schemes,

Hearts crave dreams like elusive streams…

*

Longing for love, power, achievement’s grace,

A hunger that spans time, transcends space…

*

Books and pens sought with fervent desire,

Feeding the mind, igniting intellectual fire…

*

For laughter’s echo and blooming delight,

A hunger for joy in the soul’s soft light…

*

Empathy, sympathy, and compassion’s call,

Hungry souls crave the warmth in all…

*

Devotion and commitment, selflessly sown,

A hunger for purpose, a purpose well-known…

*

Yet beneath it all, a primal plea,

A hunger for survival, a silent decree…

*

Not for words or ideals they yearn,

But for sustenance, the essence they discern…

*

Unseen yearnings, a quiet appeal,

Known only to those with hunger’s deep feel…

*

Calories unknown, yet sensations unfold,

Empty stomachs, stories told and untold…

*

No love deeper, no religion more sincere,

Than a modest square meal, cause for cheer…

*

Food, life’s bestowal, the sacred bond,

In hunger’s embrace, all else beyond…

P.S. I had experienced the pangs of hunger, when I went without food for two and a half days due to a city-wide curfew, following the assassination of the then Prime Minister of India, Mrs. Indira Gandhi. I was a bachelor then.

Utz’s Spanish Tortilla | snapshotsincursive

What’s Cooking in Gail’s Kitchen? Country Casual Cravings: Utz’s Spanish Tortilla! I like to talk with servers at restaurants. More often than not, they reveal significant tidbits about recipe ingredients or preparation that send my mind spinning. For example: Did you know instead of adding hash brown potatoes to an omelet you can substitute potato chips? When folded into a beaten egg mixture, they thicken the omelet while keeping it light and airy at the same time. It’s pure genius. After all, everyone has a bag of potato chips stashed somewhere…
