The Sun Was Late This Morning – yaskhan

I woke up at dawn and looked for the sun
It seemed like the night was not yet done
Maybe, I was up before my usual time
The sun was just not ready to show up and shine.
Looks like he was running behind schedule
Or maybe the moon and stars had him in their lure
I could hear the birds stirring and see the mist swirling
The shadows of the night in a mood for flirting
So he was late for his appointment in the sky
Maybe he was insomniac and needed more shuteye

Then I found the sun in my cup of coffee
As I sipped warmth, I found the wait worthy.

Yay I Finally Tried Rhubarb in Exotic Veg and Star Fruit Month – Tanooki Homemade Cafe

rhubarb

It’s funny but when I bought rhubarb, a cashier lady and a lady who was helping me to bag the produce asked me how I’m gonna cook them since they never tried rhubarb either. At that time I was too happy finding them at a reasonable price, so I confessed it’s also my first time trying them and had no idea so I shared what people made and posted on SNS.

Sliding | The Weekly Sift

The Alabama Supreme Court’s ruling that frozen embryos are children for the purposes of wrongful death lawsuits is covered in the featured post.

Just after I pushed the Post button, I saw that Jay Kuo had written about his personal IVF story. His IVF child is currently in a surrogate mother’s womb. (Since I subscribed to Kuo’s substack blog, I’ve been linking to it almost every week.) He includes a photo of a frozen embryo, so we know what we’re talking about.

The bottom line is that the GOP can’t support IVF and support the idea that an embryo is a “person” entitled to full protection under our laws. Supporting IVF means understanding how it actually works and being comfortable with the idea that intended parents must create more embryos than we ultimately need. And clinics cannot be on the hook for murder should anything happen to them. No clinic coul survive with that threat hanging over it.

Mourning the Devastating Death of Carlos Fernandes Angolan Director of Associação Íris Angola – O-blog-dee-o-blog-da

African Human Rights Coalition mourns the devastating loss of our friend and colleague Carlos Fernandes, the Director of Associação Íris Angola.

Carlos Fernandes a beautiful human, a generous soul, has been taken too soon. His work as a leader to the LGBTQI+ community in Angola extended to all the help he provided for the safety of asylum seekers abroad, to those fleeing the dangers for LGBTQI+ people in Angola. He was so wonderfully helpful to us at African Human Rights Coalition and will be so sorely missed – a true advocate and hero.

We have not heard official cause of death but we are told he was assassinated – based on his SOGIESC and the work for his community. While we do wait for officials to confirm the cause of his death, we do not trust the police or government to reveal the truth.  We are told by people on the ground that the police are doing nothing. We cannot confirm this yet. Police still mistreat LGBTQI+ people and the Angolan government needs to do much more to protect this community, especially as they are no longer considered criminal. We urge the Angolan government to conduct a full investigate and to tell the truth, ensuring equal justice for all to include our brother, friend and colleague, Carlos…
