#arte, Para que sepas de arte – So That You Know About Art – JaZzArt en València

Leonora Carrington, I have told you about her. For me she is one of the greats and one who wasn’t talked about much until recently. Certainly never mentioned in Art School at uni. Well she made history last Wednesday, May 15, when her painting «Les Distractions de Dagobert» was sold at Sotheby’s auction (New York) for 28.5 million dollars (26,219,459 Euros). This is a record and places her above painters like Salvador Dalí and Max Ernst. Her surrealist canvas from 1945 was acquired by Argentine billionaire Eduardo F. Costantini, founder of the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires. Mr. Costantini has said that «Les Distractions de Dagobert» is «an iconic painting.»

2001 Taipei – First visit to Asia – 100CountryTrek.com

The market is located in downtown Taipei beneath the Chienkuo South Road elevated highway. A cheap cab ride away. The Holiday Jade Market is open Saturday and Sunday 9 AM to 6PM. This is one of the largest jade markets in all of Asia. There are nearly 600 stands. It is a really fun place to go with isles and isles of jade and lots of bargaining.
The display tables that line both sides of the market are arranged with bracelets, rings, necklaces, earrings, animal carvings, ornamental pieces, and figurines made from jadestones of varying hues. The colors of the gems and carvings range from dark green to emerald to pale green.

I bought a gorgeous pendant that is very unique and special to me.

♫ People Got To Be Free ♫ | Filosofa’s Word

An interesting addendum … After this song came out, the Rascals would only perform at concerts that featured an African American act; when that condition was not met, the Rascals canceled several shows in protest.  Now that’s what I call ‘walking the walk’, or putting your money where your mouth is!

I don’t know why this didn’t chart in the UK, other than that times were a bit different there than here in 1968.  It charted at in both Canada and the U.S., in Australia, and #14 in New Zealand.
