French ultra-right website calls for ‘elimination’ of lawyers who signed letter against RN

The Patriots’ Network”) published what looked like a blog post entitled “(Very partial) list of lawyers to eliminate,” listing the signatories of the letter, with an illustrative image of a guillotine. “These lawyers are already declaring that they will not respect the verdict of the ballot box in the event of an RN victory,” it reads, calling for them to be sent to “to be sent to a ditch or a stadium.”

“History is an eternal restart, we are publishing a list of lawyers to be eliminated, we are not formally identified, we will not be arrested, and we may be convicted, we don’t give a damn!” it adds.

European Officials Say Orban ‘Exploiting EU Presidency’ By Visiting Putin For Ukraine Talks

“In Moscow, Viktor Orban in no way represents the EU or the EU’s positions,” said Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, who has been designated to become the EU’s next foreign affairs representative.

“He is exploiting the EU presidency position to sow confusion. The EU is united, clearly behind Ukraine and against Russian aggression,” she said.

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda echoed her comments. The Baltic nations Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia have all expressed strong support of Ukraine following Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022.

“If you truly seek peace, you don’t shake hands with a bloody dictator, you put all your efforts to support Ukraine,” Nauseda wrote on X.

FDIC Insurance and Fintech Failures: What You Need to Know – CRAIN’S COMMENTS

Broadly, there are two three types of online financial services:

  1. Those started by established, regulated banking institutions;
  2. Startups (e.g., Lending Club) that have purchased a bank and become a regulated institution; and
  3. Startups that are unregulated.

Category 3 may have relationships with banks, but any money placed with them isn’t necessarily insured by the FDIC. The lack of insurance may not be clear to consumers and businesses that place money with them.

The difference doesn’t matter until something blows up, as in did in April of this year. A software firm that provides the interconnection between some of the startups and their banking partners, Synapse, declared bankruptcy and took some of its software offline rather abruptly, isolated 100,000 American individuals and businesses from their money.(1) That’s $265 million in deposits. When, if, and how depositors might recover these funds is unclear at this time.

85% of the depositors affected where those with accounts at a startup called Yotta. However, in the bankruptcy filing, Synapse reported service 100 fintech startups.

Synapse is far from the only fintech failure.(3) The list includes:

  • Wonga (UK, 2018)
  • Lendy (UK,2019)
  • Beam (2020)
  • Moven (2020)
  • Celsius Network (crypto, 2022)
  • Mogo (Canada, 2022)
  • Daylight (2023)
  • Bolt.

Basically, when you give someone money, you need to know with whom or what you are dealing. The old slogan used to be “trust and verify”. Maybe it’s better to skip the trust and go directly to verify…

Biden: “I’m Staying in the Race!” | Diane Ravitch’s blog

Apparently some voters like to see an old guy defying the media and the pundits. The crowd in Wisconsin roared its approval when a “defiant” Biden said he was running. Maybe that’s why the new film “Thelma” is a big hit; it’s about a 93-year-old grandmother who gets scammed out of $10,000 and wreaks vengeance on the scammers. Filmed as an action movie, with high-speed races and and an explosion.

The New York Times, which leads the clamor to oust Biden, posted this story at 4:02 p.m. today.

President Biden just wrapped a brief but animated and defiant speech at a campaign event in Wisconsin, asserting that he would continue in the race and describing former President Donald J. Trump as a liar and threat to democracy.

“I’m staying in this race,” Mr. Biden told the crowd, to cheers. “I’m not letting one 90-minute debate wipe out three-and-a-half years of work.” Mr. Biden’s speech in Wisconsin is the first of two appearances on Friday that will be closely watched as doubts among Democrats intensify about his ability to beat former President Donald J. Trump. ABC News will air an interview with Mr. Biden on Friday evening that will be recorded after the speech.

यह धारणा गलत है कि उम्र
