What’s your favorite Woody Allen movie? Before you answer, you should know: when I was seven years old, Woody Allen took me by the hand and led me into a dim, closet-like attic on the second floor of our house. He told me to lay on my stomach and play with my brother’s electric train set. Then he sexually assaulted me. He talked to me while he did it, whispering that I was a good girl, that this was our secret, promising that we’d go to Paris and I’d be a star in his movies. I remember staring at that toy train, focusing on it as it traveled in its circle around the attic. To this day, I find it difficult to look at toy trains.

Me being quietly a part of a tree. | Rebelle Society
How I wish we could be forever young, in that summer light.
With our secret language, and the envy of our older sisters. Although often jealously spying on us, they never did uncover our magic world. The dragons we searched out, the adventures we took, the summer buzzing around us unnoticed. But, I am sure my soul absorbed the essence forever: bumble bees and all shades and nuances of green in that old apple yard. Time lost in joy.

The Statens Serum Institut recently noted that tuberculosis cases in Denmark are increasing, particularly among immigrants and residents of Greenland or immigrant descent, and suggested the TB prevention plan within the country may need revision.
The presence of TB in Denmark has steadily increased since 2009. In 2012, the country saw the highest incidence of TB in five years. Most cases occurred with immigrants residing in Denmark, while the prevalence of TB in persons native to Denmark remained unchanged.

Dumping plan for Australia’s Great Barrier Reef gets green light | News | DW.DE | 31.01.2014
and like too many other profit before planet dummies – they will just say “Oops” when something really bad happens and they kill the reef and northern Australia’s coast.
“We are devastated. I think any Australian or anyone around the world who cares about the future of the reef is also devastated by this decision,\” said Richard Leck, reef campaign leader for the international conservation group World Wildlife Fund. \”Exactly the wrong thing that you want to do when an ecosystem is suffering … is introduce another major threat to it – and that\’s what the marine park authority has allowed to happen today.\”
But the Marine Park Authority has defended the decision, pointing to strict conditions that include a water quality monitoring plan that is to stay in place five years after the dumping is complete.

Defending people’s milk in India — New Internationalist
‘We take care of the cow and the cow takes care of us,’ says Marayal, a farmer in Thalavady, Tamil Nadu. Her two cows produce 6 to 10 litres of milk a day, which she sells for 30-40 cents per litre.
Across India, there are millions of backyard dairy farmers like Marayal. Each owning just one or two cows, these farmers supply millions more families and hundreds of thousands of informal milk parlours and tea stalls across India. These small unregistered operations prefer to buy milk directly from backyard dairy farmers, who supply fresh milk at the lowest price.

Israeli forces stop Palestinian premier’s convoy for third time | Maan News Agency
On January 14, Israeli police officers stopped Hamdallah\’s convoy twice, once in the morning and once in the afternoon.
The first time was near the Ramallah area village of Turmusayya.
A heated argument broke out between Hamdallah and Israeli officers at that time, and as a result the prime minister swore at an Israeli officer calling him \”a dog standing in occupied territory.\”
Hamdallah did not leave until an officer apologized to him.
In response, Israeli police said Hamdallah\’s convoy was stopped because it was driving \”recklessly and endangering other road users.\”

Reducing immigration and undermining the NHS. Have you spotted Cameron’s trick yet? | Pride’s Purge
It’s a clever trick.
First of all you refuse to renew the visas of working immigrants who are here completely legally. Then you declare them illegal and deport them. And finally you boast about how you’re reducing ‘illegal’ immigration.
Here’s an example of the con trick in action.
An Australian child psychotherapist called Harley Miller – a legal migrant who has worked in the NHS for 9 years – is about to be deported as an ‘illegal’ immigrant:
Immigrant stories: The psychotherapist and the letter of proof
Devious stuff.
But Cameron and Clegg’s con trick is even more devious than that.
A recent study shows 11% of NHS staff and over a quarter of NHS doctors are from overseas.
By deporting NHS workers, it creates staff shortages, longer queues and a much more inefficient NHS – thereby making it easier for the coalition government to sell off the NHS to ‘more efficient’ private healthcare companies
So Cameron and Clegg get to look like they’re reducing immigration while simultaneously helping to sell off the NHS.
It’s the perfect confidence trick that even professional hustlers would be proud of.
And everyone seems to have fallen for it.
Have you?
