Khadija Ismayilova on trial – a lesson in courage for the international community – Reporters Without Borders

Azerbaijan freely accepted its obligations as party to the Council of Europe, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and many other treaties. These obligations include respect for freedom of information. There is no reason why Azerbaijan’s partners should yield to its blackmail, to its angry accusations of interference, arrogance and destabilization in response to the smallest allusion to its repressive methods.

Video: Settlers continue Al-Aqsa Mosque provocations

PNN/Jerusalem/

Around 45 extremist settlers broke into Al-Aqsa mosque compound this morning from al-Maghrebi gate under armed protection from Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) and special units of Israeli police.

Tensions rose in and around the mosque due to the provocative incursion of the settlers into the holy site, and especially after so-called ‘Temple Mount’ organisations called recently for the area to be closed to Muslims during the Jewish holiday commemorating the ‘Destruction of the Temple’.

The settlers were met by the worshipers stationed at Al-Aqsa chanting ‘Allahu akbar’ (God is great).

77-Year-Old Polish Watchmaker Evicted From Her Greenpoint Shop After 26 Years: Gothamist

Sokol shrugged off Trzaskowska’s eviction as a byproduct of gentrification. “Is this case really so strange in Williamsburg or Greenpoint? You see that on Manhattan Avenue, the prices are going up. This is how the neighborhood is changing.”

Although Trzaskowska would like to find a new shop, she admits that rents are too high. For now, she’s preoccupied with the whereabouts and safety of her tools and supplies. “It simply means I’ve lost everything,” she said.

Recalling the chimpanzee fortune teller that now occupies her shop, Trzaskowska shook her head. “They should have killed me.”
