Robert DeNiro Announces He’d Like To Punch Donald Trump In The Face: Gothamist

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=videoseries

There isn’t much to it aside from DeNiro savaging Trump, but he seemed to enjoy every second of it:I mean he’s so blatantly stupid. He’s a punk, he’s a dog. He’s a pig, he’s a con, a bullshit artist, a mutt who doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He doesn’t do his homework, doesn’t care thinks he’s gaming society. Doesn’t pay his taxes. He’s an idiot. Colin Powell said it best: He’s a national disaster. He’s an embarrassment to this country. It makes me so angry this country has gotten to this point that this fool, this bozo, has wound up where he has. He talks how he wants to punch people in the face? Well, I’d like to punch him in the face. This is somebody that we want for president? I don’t think so. What I care about is the direction of this country and what I’m very, very worried about is that it might go in the wrong direction with someone like Donald Trump. If you care about your future, vote for it.

The GOP’s Outrage Over #TrumpTapes Tells Us Everything We Need to Know About Them | Dame Magazine

So why are Republican leaders suddenly shrieking in horror, as if they’ve suddenly realized that this man, this Trump, is well and truly their nominee? What’s different this time around? When Trump crapped all over White Womanhood on tape, making it nearly impossible to spin, he didn’t just demean white women but insulted his entire base. Because White Womanhood is not about women as autonomous and fully human beings, but the white institutions run by men invested in protecting the virtue of “their” women as the receptacles and gatekeepers of purest ideals and morals. Many white women are equally (if unselfconsciously) protective of those institutions for the social  privileges it gives them. As a result, you get interesting fireworks when a White Woman of the ‘hood faces down a woman of color who is sick and tired of gibberish passing for journalism. On CNN, Trump surrogate Scottie Neil Hughes (whose name is fascinating on its own), professed to being offended by Trump’s predatory attitudes towards women, but she was even more offended by Ana Navarro’s saying “pussy” when quoting Trump’s own words.“Please stop saying that word, my daughter is listening,” Hughes huffed, yanking the white lady virtue chain in order to show that she was a delicate flower in need of rescuing from the mean brown person who refused to acquiesce to her orders.Navarro was not having any of it. “Don’t act outraged and offended when I say the word, [pussy],” Navarro responded indignantly, pointing out that Hughes is a Trump surrogate who still supports the man who said it in first place. In case it’s not obvious, Hughes’ rhetorical strategy attempted to project Trump’s failings onto Navarro, casting her as the repulsive vulgarian for refusing to whitewash the misogyny of Trump’s own words. Doubtless, Hughes’ feint worked on many home viewers. That Latina lady may have had a point, but did she have to be so mean? That’s the power of White Womanhood. That’s why the thing that gets not one but two ‘apologies’ out of Trump is the tears of white women,” author Heidi Heilig observed. Because Trump has well and truly shown that he obeys no authority but the impulses of his own ego, and exposed his entire party’s leadership as toothless opportunists. The annals of history will record: “Grab them by the pussy” is this election year’s version of “binders full of women.” And so, here we are, the entire country wallowing in unprintable filth. O, how the mighty have fallen.

I Was Sick Of Not Seeing Women Running Outdoors Till It Hit Me I Was Part Of The Problem – The Ladies Finger

I, despite being a staunch feminist, was very much part of the problem. All the while that I’d been blaming others for alienating women in public spaces, I’d made sure I made myself invisible every time I stepped out of the house. I’d stopped taking buses and local trains a long time ago. My excuses ranged from “It’s too hot” to “It’s too polluted” to “I’m running late” to “People sweat too much in a bus”. I’d stopped wearing sleeveless clothes so as to not stand out on Chennai roads. A quick visit to the mom and pop store around the corner would see me kick-starting my bike. Even when I walked, it was never a walk. It was always a stride. With purpose. In one direction. Fast.Refusing to perpetuate and give in to the same fear and alienation that haunts most Indian women, I chose the beach as my place of penitence. For the first time ever, I started running to repent and to reclaim. On the first day, it was unsettling but for every person who looked my way, I’d tell myself, “This space, the beach, the breeze, the right to be is as much yours as it’s theirs.” I stopped hunching my shoulders. I stopped making myself smaller. I started taking full breaths. My chest rising and falling with every step I took. It was a liberation I had never felt before. As I ran, people watched. I never made eye contact. As the days went by, people still watched as I ran. But I smiled.I ran for myself and the lady shyly jogging on the other side of the track. I ran because I have every right to. I also ran for a future where my daughter never has to feel like she doesn’t belong. I ran for a playground that will have both girls and boys kicking up dust. I ran for a time when girls can walk down roads whenever they want, wherever they want, wearing whatever they want. And, I will continue to run till that day comes. It’s one of the many small, only seemingly inconsequential things I can do till the day no woman feels the need to write an article like this. Till then I will run. And, you can watch. Or…

IOF Deported all 13 Zaytouna-Oliva Women Boat – PNN

All 13 of the women on the Women’s Boat to Gaza are currently in the process of deportation after being captured by Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and detained in a prison at Ashdod.Wendy Goldsmith, a member of the land team working to secure the release of the women stated that, “the deportation was much quicker than in prior flotillas. While we had a great legal team assisting the women, we suspect that the reason for the quick release was because of all the negative media attention Israel has been receiving for its illegal interception.”According to early reports from the women released, the Zaytouna-Oliva was surrounded by two warships along with four to five smaller naval boats.

Ken Burns Blasts Donald Trump Over Comments on Central Park Five: “The Height of Vulgarity” | Hollywood Reporter

I suppose you’ve seen the comments made by Donald Trump saying he believes the Central Park Five are still guilty and have gotten away with a heinous crime. After having spent so much time with them making your 2012 documentary, The Central Park Five, how do you respond to that? It’s just so patently untrue — and he knows it’s untrue. This is out and out racism. This is a man who finds it impossible to apologize and so he needs to double-down on what we know is untrue. We know this: They were exonerated by a court of law for the crime they served full sentences for. The reason they served the full sentences is because they refused to take a plea bargain and they refused at parole hearings to admit their guilt because they were innocent. They were proved innocent by DNA evidence and the judge vacated their convictions. Several years after that, the City of New York settled with them for time that no amount of money could possibly repay them for. In In his statement, Trump says the Central Park Five “admitted they were guilty” back in 1989.The original thing that they “admitted it” is so specious that it barely warrants a response. They had coerced confessions. They were subjected to questioning by seasoned detectives. These were two 14-year-olds, two 15-year-olds and one developmentally challenged 16-year-old. They were interrogated for up to 30 hours, without food, water or parents. They were lied to and told that if they implicated someone else they would be able to go home. When they finally did, at their parents’ urging, they not only did not go home, they went to jail for between seven and 13 years. And in fact every single one of their “confessions” has the absence of the sixth person — whose DNA was the only DNA found at the scene. As the eldest, Korey Wise, sat in jail at a maximum security prison, this sociopathic murderer named Matias Reyes, who because of police incompetence went on to murder other people that year — a woman and her unborn child, as well as rape other women — he confessed. His DNA matched the DNA, 13 years old, that they had been sitting on unable to match with anyone else. And none of the boys statements suggested that there was anyone else at the scene of the crime.

Six Reasons Conservatives Should Not Vote for Donald Trump

I come before you today, Hillary haters, as one of your standard-bearers. I find her utterly loathsome. I literally wrote a book on her failures — you can buy it for the low, low price of 99 cents on Amazon dot com. I started the first anti-Hillary super PAC of the presidential cycle back in 2013. My bona fides are real. But here is the painful reality. As truly awful as Hillary Clinton is, Donald Trump is far, FAR worse. It is not even close. Trump is a clear and present danger to our republic. And no matter how deep and abiding your mistrust is of Hillary, you cannot pull the lever for Trump. Let a charter member of the vast, right-wing anti-Clinton conspiracy convince you.

Did President Obama’s 2011 birther lampoon set in motion Donald Trump’s presidential run? Brent Larkin | cleveland.com

The Wall Street Journal’s Pulitzer-Prize-winning Dorothy Rabinowitz is clearly no sellout, concluding a Sept. 29 column endorsing Clinton this way, “Her election alone is what stands between the American nation and the reign of the most unstable, proudly uninformed, psychologically unfit president ever to enter the White House.”  Trump only claims to be a Republican. He might be a much better fit with the National Socialist German Workers’ Party.  Parts of the Nazi platform were vintage Trump: Only those born here count as real citizens; purge the country of foreigners; eliminate all press freedoms; annul treaties; and treat “positive Christianity” as the only real religion.  Trump is no Hitler. But there are enough similarities in their rise to prominence to frighten us all. Those similarities were brilliantly noted by the esteemed and feared New York Times book critic Michiko Kakutani, in a review of a new book titled, “Hitler: Ascent 1889-1939.”  With nary a mention of Trump’s name, Kakutani told how the book described Hitler as an “egomaniac” who practiced “a doctrine of hatred.”  Hitler, she wrote, “rose to power through demagoguery, showmanship and nativist appeals to the masses.”    He was, she added, a man whose “manic speeches and penchant for taking all-or-nothing risks raised questions about his capacity for self-control.”  Two peas in a pod.    Trump’s the one without the armband.

Want to Know the Crucial Areas for Clinton? Follow Michelle Obama – The New York Times

Four taps of the microphone were all Michelle Obama needed to take down Donald J. Trump.“Hillary Clinton is tough,” Mrs. Obama, the first lady, told a crowd of several thousand in Charlotte, N.C., on Tuesday. “See,” she continued, “I’ve watched her when she gets knocked down — she doesn’t complain. She doesn’t cry foul.”Tap, tap, tap, tap.It took a second for the audience to catch on: Mrs. Obama was mocking Mr. Trump’s complaint that a faulty microphone had hindered his performance in his first presidential debate with Mrs. Clinton. But as Mrs. Obama continued — “No, she gets right back up, comes back stronger” — the mostly young and heavily African-American crowd let out a deafening howl. They called her “the closer” during Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign, like a go-to relief pitcher used sparingly but with devastating effect. Mrs. Obama preferred spending time with her daughters over attending political rallies. But when she was unleashed before a pivotal caucus or primary, her story of growing up on the South Side of Chicago and falling in love with a young community organizer had an unmatched, almost magical power to turn out voters, campaign officials discovered.Eight years later, Mrs. Obama is playing a similar role for the woman whom she helped her husband defeat in that race.
