A 59-year-old man shot and killed his twin brother Wednesday evening at their west Wichita, Kan., home. Although a motive wasn’t immediately clear, authorities said the shooter called 911 and told a dispatcher he shot his brother because his brother was going to shoot him. Two firearms were recovered from the home. Officers took the living twin into custody.

A teenager who recently graduated from high school was killed in an accidental shooting in Maryville, Tenn., Tuesday night. Skyler Daniel Boring, 17, and some friends were at a residence on East Lamar Alexander Parkway at around 10 p.m. when one of the firearms they were passing around – a shotgun – went off, striking the teen in the chest. Boring had been wrestling co-captain at Heritage High School.

A 2-year-old boy is dead after an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound. Trenton Mathis shot himself in the face with a 9mm pistol in a house in Cherokee County, Tex., while at home with his great-grandmother. No determination has been made as to whether any criminal charges will be filed.

A 13-year-old boy is dead and a 17-year-old boy is in serious condition following shootings outside a convenience store in Newport News, Va., early Tuesday. Lutrell Kittle, 13, was shot once in the upper body while standing in front of the store; he was pronounced dead at the hospital. Several minutes later, the 17-year-old was shot multiple times in his upper and lower body. Police are investigating.

A woman was critically injured after being shot in the chest by a stray bullet that came into her Whites Creek, Tenn., home Sunday night. A 15-year-old girl was accidentally shot and killed after she and her 12-year-old sister were handling a .380-caliber semi-automatic handgun in their LeFlore County, Miss., home Sunday. A 41-year-old woman was killed and five others were wounded when Esteban Smith, 23, who was stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, randomly fired at vehicles as he drove around Concho County, Tex., in his pickup Sunday afternoon.

An 11-year-old Homestead, Fla., boy who brought a gun to school was shot in the leg and wounded after it accidentally discharged inside his backpack. Keshawn Carter Davis, 12, was accidentally shot and killed inside a Greenville, N.C., home Friday morning. A 15-year-old was driven to the hospital and left there by his family after he was shot multiple times and wounded at his Richmond, Va., apartment Thursday night. Tonquinisha “NeNe” McKinley, 17, was killed and Uniqua Wicker, 18, Raven Howard, 19, and Pamela Jordan, 39, were wounded when gunfire erupted at an unofficial Saginaw High School pre-prom gathering in Saginaw, Mich., Thursday night.

Julian Dawkins, 22, was shot in Alexandria, Va., early Wednesday morning, and authorities say a 17-year veteran of the Arlington County Sheriff’s office may be responsible. Dawkins left a family gathering after 9 p.m. and walked down the street, where he got into an argument with Craig Patterson, who was off-duty. The Commonwealth’s Attorney said the fact that Patterson is a law enforcement officer doesn’t influence whether he is charged in the shooting. Dawkins worked at the PBS NewsHour as a driver.

A young woman who was shot during a Wednesday night gun battle in Renton, Wash., has died of her injuries. Officers called to the scene found a 20-year-old woman with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. They later learned that a fistfight had started between two women and their respective groups of friends began shooting at each other. The victim was a bystander.
