Saturday:

4-year-old Killian Perez shot and killed himself while playing with a loaded handgun in Fayetteville, N.C., Saturday morning, and his father, 32-year-old Jeffery David Perez, a soldier in the Army, was charged with involuntary manslaughter and failure to secure a firearm. Denishe-Ya King, 18, was shot and killed when a fight broke out at a party in Suffolk, Va., early Saturday. A 17-year-old boy was shot in the leg at the Howard Hughes Center in the Westchester section of Los Angeles, Calif., Saturday night. A 16-year-old and a 19-year-old were wounded when someone opened fire on a crowd waiting to enter a party in the Hill District of Pittsburgh, Pa., Saturday night.

Friday:9-year-old Dontrell Darling was hit in the face during a drive-by shooting while he slept in his bed in the Liberty City area of Miami, Fla., early Friday. 12-year-old Taylor Wheeler and 15-year-old Dayton Gessel were found shot to death in the basement of a South Jordan, Utah, home Friday afternoon, and three boys were taken in for questioning. Three people were found shot to death in a murder-suicide in a home in Brandenburg, Ky., Friday morning, and one of the victims was a 13-year-old boy. A 14-year-old boy was struck in the arm by a bullet while playing outside in north Charlotte, N.C., Friday afternoon.

6-year-old Jamerica Ragsdale, who was shot in her grandmother’s mobile home in Vicksburg, Miss., Tuesday, died of her injuries Thursday. A 16-year-old had been handling a .22 caliber pistol when it discharged, sending a bullet through the wall and into the little girl’s head. “Yeah it was an accident,” said Nikia Ragsdale, Jamerica’s uncle. “But he shouldn’t been playing with guns.”

The victims of gun violence we write about in this space are strangers. We feel for their plight and empathize with their loved ones, but we do not know them. That changed for me on Monday, when I pulled up the Times homepage and read about the death of someone I knew.

Ali Eskandarian, 35, the first victim of a bloody rampage that claimed two other lives, was a soulful singer and songwriter whose music was colored with an earnest, controlled intensity. Though he was often compared to Bob Dylan and Jeff Buckley, he sounded like no one else. His voice soared, his warm eyes bored into you, his smile enveloped you.

One person has been charged and another is being questioned in connection with the attack that left a 6-year-old boy who with a gunshot wound to the chest after he was struck by gunfire on his way to a tutoring class with his two brothers in the Gage Park neighborhood this week.

Dow Kling, 22, was accidentally shot and killed in Waterbury, Conn., Sunday, and police have arrested his roommate, 22-year-old Shawn French. Police believe the men used a .22-caliber Ruger to shoot blank rounds at each other at their home, and live ammunition accidentally got mixed in with the blanks. French had a permit for the gun and has experience handling firearms.

Renisha McBride, 19, was shot to death after seeking help following a car crash in a Dearborn Heights, Mich., early Saturday. The victim knocked on the door of a home hoping for assistance, and thinking she was an intruder, the man who opened the door shot her in the head. She died on his porch. No arrests have been made. A final report on the shooting will be forwarded to the county prosecutor’s office.

A 5-year-old boy was wounded when a 22-caliber gun accidentally discharged in New Paris, Ohio, Sunday afternoon. Ryan Matson, 38, was cleaning his .45 caliber handgun when it accidentally went off in his kitchen, injuring himself and his 4-year-old daughter in Stonington, Me., Sunday afternoon. A man was shot three times and began knocking on doors in Dayton, Ohio, until someone drove him to the hospital late Sunday. Andrea Jinneth Corredor-Riveria, 25, a Colombian college student visiting relatives, died after accidentally shooting herself at the Salt River Gun Range in New London, Mo., Sunday morning.

14-year-old Trevaughn Everett was found dead of gunshot wounds in the Avondale area of Cincinnati, Ohio, Saturday night. A 16-year-old boy was accidentally shot in the neck and killed at a home where people were cleaning their guns in Burley, Idaho, Saturday night. Three people, including a 17-year-old girl, were shot and wounded outside a market in north St. Louis County, Mo., Saturday night. A man was shot in the back in the parking lot of a Walmart in Russellville, Ark., Saturday morning, when his young son tried to pull himself into his pickup truck by grabbing hold of an unsecured shotgun when it discharged.

US Official: (Dumb-Dangerous 2 all- un-needed!) Israeli warplanes strike Syrian missiles in Latakia | Maan News Agency

A US official Thursday confirmed an Israeli air raid on the Syrian city of Latakia.

The official, who declined to be identified, told CNN that Israeli warplanes struck Syrian missiles in Latakia on Wednesday.
