Robert Redford Denies Endorsing Donald Trump for President – Hollywood Reporter – Trump spins and lies!

The quote Trump pulled is from a recent Larry King interview. The entire quote paints a slightly different picture than what Trump presented: “He’s got such a big foot in his mouth, I’m not sure you could get it out,” Redford told King. “But on the other hand, I’m glad he’s in there.”Redford then went on to call the presidential race “Looney Tunes” and “crazy stuff.””It’s like, come on, you guys,” said Redford. “You’re making us feel foolish, just having to watch you.”

Dutch reporter detained in continuing harassment of foreign journalists – Reporters Without Borders

Reporters Without Borders calls for the immediate release of Dutch reporter Frederike Geerdink, who was arrested in southeastern Turkey yesterday, and urges the government to stop harassing foreign journalists operating in that part of the country.Foreign reporters are clearly no longer welcome in the southeast, where clashes between government forces and Kurdish rebels led by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) are growing in intensity by the day.Geerdink was arrested in Yüksekova, a town near the Iranian border in Hakkaria province, while covering a group of Kurdish activists who were also arrested for trying to act as human shields in an attempt to prevent attacks by government forces. She was reportedly detained for “traveling in a forbidden area.” An official even told Reuters that she had been arrested “for her own safety” because of the fighting in the area.“Coming just days after the arrests of three VICE News journalists, Frederike Geerdink’s arrest constitutes yet another intimidatory message for the foreign news media, one that is equally unacceptable,” said Johann Bihr, the head of the Reporters Without Borders Eastern Europe and Central Asia desk.

A look at Japan′s anti-government protests | Asia | DW.COM | 04.09.2015

Tens of thousands of demonstrators gathered outside the parliament building in Tokyo on Sunday, while as many as 300 other protests took place across the country on the same day, manifestations of the public’s displeasure with the legislation presently being debated in the Diet. A vote on the new laws could take place in the Diet as soon as September 14.And while privately they admit that the ruling Liberal Democratic Party’s overwhelming majority in the Diet means that it is inevitable that it will ram through security bills that they believe trample across the nation’s pacifist constitution, the demonstrators insist this is just the start of their campaign.

80,000 Brits want Netanyahu arrested, petition

PNN/ Bethlehem/

More than 80,000 people in the UK until the moment have signed the petition calling for the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu for war crimes against Palestinians during official visit to Britain in September.

The petition aims to reach 100,000 signatures within the deadline February 7, 2016.
After 10,000 signatures, the British government must respond to the petition, and after 100,000 signatures, it will be considered for debate in the parliament.

The online petition, uploaded on August 7 to the UK parliament’s official website, demands the apprehension of Netanyahu for the slaughter of thousands of Palestinians during the Israeli military’s 51-day military aggression against the Gaza Strip last year. The petition has garnered 60,454 signatures as of Sunday morning.

The petition reads:

“Under international law, [Netanyahu] should be arrested for war crimes upon arrival in the UK for the massacre of over 2,000 civilians in 2014.”

The Israeli Ministry for Foreign Affairs said in a statement said that the petition has “no real meaning,” adding, “Bilateral ties between Britain and Israel are closer than ever before.”

Israel unleashed its military onslaught on the Gaza Strip in early July 2014. The offensive ended on August 26, 2014, with a truce that went into effect following indirect negotiations between representatives from Palestinian resistance movement Hamas and Israeli regime in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

Nearly 2,200 Palestinians, including 577 children, lost their lives in Israel’s war. Over 11,100 others – including 3,374 children, 2,088 women and 410 elderly people – also sustained injuries.

Slovakia ′will only accept Christian refugees′ | News | DW.COM | 20.08.2015

“Score another point for fundamentalist idiots who claim to be Christian and Muslim!” The Slovakian government, which will accept 200 people from camps in Turkey, Italy and Greece under the EU plan, denied that its decision to exclusively accept Christian refugees was discriminatory as it was intended to ensure community cohesion.

Slovakia’s Interior Ministry spokesman Ivan Metik told the BBC: “We could take 800 Muslims but we don’t have any mosques in Slovakia so how can Muslims be integrated if they are not going to like it here?

“We want to really help Europe with this migration wave but…we are only a transit country and the people don’t want to stay in Slovakia.”

Norbert Röttgen, chairman of the German Bundestag’s foreign affairs committee, sharply criticized Slovakia for rejecting Muslim refugees.

He told radio station Deutschlandfunk that Slovakia’s behavior is contributing to the failure of Europe, and that the country’s egotism would torpedo the EU’s ability to act.

A Beating in Boston, Said to Be Inspired by Donald Trump’s Immigrant Comments – First Draft. Political News, Now. – The New York Times

After a Hispanic man was beaten Wednesday by two Boston men, one of whom told the police that he was inspired by Donald J. Trump’s anti-immigrant message, Mr. Trump told reporters that his supporters were “passionate.”

Two brothers from South Boston were arrested and charged with beating the 58-year-old man, who is homeless, with a metal pole, breaking his nose and battering his chest and arms, The Boston Globe reported.

“Donald Trump was right, all these illegals need to be deported,” the police said one of the brothers, Scott Leader, 38, told them. His brother, Steve Leader, 30, was also charged in the beating, the police said. The Globe reported that the brothers have extensive criminal records.

Told of the attack, which also left the man soaked in urine, Mr. Trump said at a news conference late Wednesday that it was the first he had heard of it.

“It would be a shame,” Mr. Trump said, before adding: “I will say that people who are following me are very passionate. They love this country and they want this country to be great again. They are passionate.”

The episode is not the first time that Mr. Trump’s inflammatory comments have been cited in connection with violence.
