Police Union Gets Nasty With De Blasio: Don’t Attend Our Funerals, Mayor: Gothamist

I, “A-Hole Denier Abusive Fellow Officers,” as a New York City police officer, request that Mayor Bill de Blasio and City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito refrain from attending my funeral services in the event that I am killed in the line of duty. Due to Mayor de Blasio and Speaker Mark-Viverito’s consistent refusal to show police officers the support and respect they deserve, I believe that their attendance at the funeral of a fallen New York City police officer is an insult to that officer’s memory and sacrifice.

Tornado touches down in South Los Angeles, damaging 5 homes – LA Times

The wind tore off the sign outside the Garr Learning Center, located on Gage and Vermont avenues, said owner Gerae Vernon. The sign spun in the wind and crashed into a window, shattering the glass and scaring the 21 children inside.

“Heavy rain, storm, winds, earthquakes – I’m used to that,” Vernon said. “I had never seen anything like this before.”

It wasn’t the only tornado to blow into Southern California. Elsewhere Friday, a Mark Tarzian shot video of what appeared to be a waterspout touching down off Crystal Cove Beach in Newport Beach.

That waterspout was likely in the same band of storm cells as the tornado that hit South L.A., Boldt said. Such waterspouts are more likely in winter storms, Boldt said, but landspouts, or tornadoes, are not out of the question.

Last 20th November, some 5,000 students, miners from Cananea, fathers of the ABC day care centre, those affected by the contamination of the Sonora River, railroad workers, feminists, ecologists and braceros marched through the streets of Hermosillo, took over the seat of the local Legislative Power and warned: “The people are in session today, there is a quorum.” Before entering the enclosure, they left a message for…
