Oregon Sheriff Shared Sandy Hook Conspiracy Theory on Facebook – The New York Times

(Was the shooting in Oregon part of a conspiracy by the county sheriff to…?)

The sheriff also warned the vice president that “any federal regulation enacted by Congress or by executive order of the president offending the constitutional rights of my citizens shall not be enforced by me or by my deputies, nor will I permit the enforcement of any unconstitutional regulations or orders by federal officers within the borders of Douglas Country Oregon.”Three days before that letter was released, Mr. Hanlin shared a link on his personal Facebook page to a YouTube video, which suggested that the shootings at Sandy Hook — and the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 — might have been staged by the federal government to provide a pretext for “disarming the public” through gun control legislation. In a comment imploring his Facebook friends to watch that video, whose producer claims that the parents of children “allegedly shot” at Sandy Hook were actors, the sheriff wrote, “This makes me wonder who we can trust anymore.”

Afghan Women’s Writing Project | Taliban! Leave My Country

Taliban!

My poem is for you!

For your generation of fear and panic

You are fathers of killing, blood, pain and sorrowI remember you

I still remember

That day you stoned Zarmena

And hanged Doctor Najib

I remember you beat me with cables

Because I dressed in men’s clothes

Taliban!

After those twenty bloody years

I tried to forget you and your wrongdoings

I tried to remove those thorns in my body

I tried to heal

You are back now in Kunduz

You attacked the city

But I knew you were there

I knew how you hid in other provinces

You killed people the same way

You were cruel the same way

You were against humanity and good life

The same way

Taliban!

You make women your slaves

You hide us under the worst thing

The burqa

I am free from that burden now

Free of slavery now

And I care for my people and my country

My country is not for you

You don’t deserve Afghanistan

You deserve hell

As you make us live in hell

Taliban!

As long as I and the Afghan people are alive

We will fight against you

We won’t sit silent

We want our freedom

You do not belong in Afghanistan

Go away

Taliban!

You hid me under the blue burqa

You didn’t know, I became a fighter

But I don’t fight like you

Killing people to accept your outdated ideas

Taliban!

I fight against you, not with bombs and rockets

Not with fire, blood, darkness and tears

I fight you with my voice

You don’t dare to listen

You are blind to reading my words

Your mind is empty

You live in the cemetery of history

I fight with my poems, my words

I throw them like a hammer

Into your thoughts

I think differently

I believe in change,

I believe in freedom and love

NYC To Hurricane Joaquin: Yeah, That’s What We Thought

NYC To Hurricane Joaquin: Yeah, That's What We Thought After two days of totally not panicking and totally not having Superstorm Sandy flashbacks, NYC has officially told Hurricane Joaquin to take a hike, ya’ lousy weather phenomenon. “The forecast confidence in Hurricane Joaquin maintaining an offshore track continues to increase,” said Gary Conte, Warning Coordination Meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s New York Forecast Office, presumably while holding two giant middle fingers up toward the heavens. Or if he’s really skilled, three middle fingers. [ more › ]
