अच्छे दिन / Good Days  – Kaushal Kishore

अच्छे दिन के चक्कर मे पूरी,

उम्र गुजर जाती है भटकते हुए…

फिर महसूस होता है एक दिन,

अच्छे दिन वही थे, जो गुजर गए…

🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀

Chasing brighter tomorrows, we wander far and wide,

Life’s path leads us through peaks and valleys, side by side…

But in hindsight’s gaze, we realise with a nostalgic sigh,

The good old days, were the ones that passed us by…

♫ Photographs And Memories ♫ (Redux) | Filosofa’s Word

Photographs and Memories is the title song from Jim Croce’s album of the same name that was released in 1974, a year after his death.  Croce was just starting to become successful when he died at the age of 30. Jim, the pilot, and other members of his group, were killed when the plane crashed into a pecan tree at the end of the runway in Natchitoches, Louisiana in 1973.  Yet another gone too soon.

Deeply Unserious 5th Circuit Declares $8 Billion Rural FCC Broadband Subsidy Program ‘Unconstitutional’ | Techdirt

The FCC has long run an $8 billion federal subsidy program to help bring phone and broadband services to lower income homes and schools called the Universal Service Fund. The bipartisan program has historically been funded by a fee on traditional phone lines. But with traditional phone lines dying, there’s been a long, ongoing discussion about how to best continue to fund the program.

The Trumplican-stacked Fifth Circuit court of appeals has proposed a novel solution: they’ve simply ruled the entire program unconstitutional (pdf), throwing efforts to actually fix it into chaos. The ruling, which ignored past Fifth Circuit and Supreme Court precedent, effectively declared the USF an unconstitutional, illegal tax, something seven court dissenters said was a preposterous leap.

The lawsuit was spearheaded by pseudo-consumer group and Conservative nonprofit Consumers’ Research (be sure to check out the part of their website that whines about “woke” companies for making bare-bone attempts at inclusivity).

The fate of the USF will now slowly head to a Supreme Court easily corrupted by a free Winnebago. Actual consumer groups and telecom legal gurus I’ve spoken to think the Supreme Court will shoot down this ruling, but precedent and coherent logic aren’t exactly in fashion at the moment.

Kamala Harris has to be an avatar not of hope but of give-’em-hell – Los Angeles Times

Objectively, it is an amazing progression in a short window of time. In 2008, Barack Obama, a Democrat, became the nation’s first Black president. Sixteen years later, Kamala Harris is poised to become the first Black woman chosen by the party to be its candidate for president.

But much has changed in 16 years.

The defining significance of Obama’s historic candidacy, its brand, was hope. Just the symbolism of a Black man in the White House moved millions of us to think differently about ourselves. Harris’ ascension is no such symbol. She becomes the Democratic candidate because as vice president, she’s been handed the baton by an aging white man forced to step aside because of worries about his ability to get the job done.

In other words, Harris’ color is not nearly as important as her ability to do that job, not just to take President Biden’s place on the ticket but to take Democrats across the finish line. She must salvage the desperate, dwindling hope that the whole nation can regain its moral footing in the onslaught of MAGA recklessness and self-righteousness that’s eroding America’s shaky democratic foundations…

Zahi Hawass slams Elon Musk’s tweet over the pyramids – Egypt Independent

The pyramids were built by ancient Egyptians with their own hands, Hawass stressed.

“There are many rumors that promote the idea that the pyramids were not built by the ancient Egyptians, but rather by aliens or non-Egyptian humans, and all of these claims are baseless.”

The pyramids have no counterpart in any other civilization, he said, and amongst the most important archaeological landmarks in history, and one of the remaining Seven Wonders of the World.

He noted that there are those who spread false rumors about ancient Egyptian civilization to gain attention, stressing: “Anyone who doubts our civilization, I will confront them. I am holding a stick for anyone who spreads these false rumors.”
