Critics called Hillary Clinton “shrill” and “unlikable.” It’s no coincidence that the same words are being used against Elizabeth Warren, Kirsten Gillibrand and Kamala Harris.

Trump offers socialism for the rich, capitalism for everyone else | Robert Reich

To a conservative mind, socialism is getting something for nothing. Yet this is what the president promotes for the wealthy
“America will never be a socialist country,” Donald Trump declared in his State of the Union address. Someone should alert Trump that America is now a hotbed of socialism. But it is socialism for the rich. Everyone else is treated to harsh capitalism.
In the conservative mind, socialism means getting something for doing nothing. That pretty much describes the $21bn saved by the nation’s largest banks last year thanks to Trump’s tax cuts, some of which went into massive bonuses for bank executives. On the other hand, more than 4,000 lower-level bank employees got a big dose of harsh capitalism. They lost their jobs.
Pompeo in Hungary for Orbán meeting as US reengages in region
Fascists and neo-fascists flock together

US secretary of state will dine with Hungarian leader before travelling to other countries
The US secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, has embarked on a tour of central European countries aimed at countering the influence of Russia and China, after a decade in which the region has been sidelined by US diplomacy.
“When we’re not here others will show up,” said Pompeo at a joint press conference with the Hungarian foreign minister, Péter Szijjártó, on Monday afternoon in Budapest.
‘Napalm girl’ Kim Phuc receives German prize for peace work

Activist honoured decades after she was photographed fleeing naked in Vietnam war
Kim Phuc, known as the “napalm girl” after a well-known photo of her from the Vietnam war, has received an award in Germany for her work for peace.
Organisers of the Dresden prize say the 55-year-old, who lives in Canada, is being honoured for her support of Unesco and children wounded in war, and for speaking out against violence and hatred. She received €10,000 (£8,800).
Here’s the Best “Selfie” Photo Ever Taken!
Believe it or not, it hasn’t always been so easy to snap a selfie. A photograph, roughly 100 years old, recently surfaced revealing what lengths some individuals would go to in order to capture that perfect self-portrait. It’s definitely interesting to see what an early 20th-century photographer came up with to include himself in the photo.
Redditor KevlarYarmulke shared an image featuring an early version of the “selfie” on Reddit. The photograph, which is simply dated as 1900s, features a family of four, pictured among the foliage likely surrounding their home — a common image in the U.S. throughout the early 20th century. Not so common is the placement of an ornate mirror, perched up on a tree stump in such a way that the photographer can be seen in its reflection.
Self-portraits, or “selfies” as we tend to refer to them today, were not all that uncommon throughout history, however the methods for which self-portraits are captured have obviously become significantly simpler.

Venezuela: Some Things Never Change
Yes the Right wingers are going nuts making the case against Maduro….of course using socialism as the premise for the failure of the government….but nothing they are doing is new…..the US has a game plan for regime change that has not changed in decades.
Seriously! It is the same plan almost every time.
We should all beware of those regime change charlatans….all of them…..
The tragedy of U.S. foreign policy has been that in its quest to do good globally, it has invited all kinds of charlatans to lobby Washington to do their bidding. The language of these actors is seductive and frequently plays on Americans’ reverence for freedom and democracy. In the Middle East, the cacophony of voices demanding U.S. support has time and again entangled America in regime change wars that can’t be won.
While these foreign actors purport to support U.S. interests, their narratives are often self-serving…

Hanoi! WTF?
It has been announced the draft dodging president will meet our enemy Kim in Hanoi Vietnam……
Sorry I spit on this decision!
As a Vietnam vet I do not feel that Hanoi is a proper meeting site, DaNang would have been better…..but I would not expect a guy that daddy bought him some bone spurs so he could stay behind and play little rich boy while others did the right thing and served their country.
That rant is over with more on the news of the “summit”…..
Trump is now confirming that the talks will be on February 27 and 28 in Hanoi, and said he expects North Korea to “become a great Economic Powerhouse” because of how great and capable Kim is.
The two leaders held a summit last year in Singapore, and had agreed to a future meeting at the time, though the exact details were long withheld…

“Visible Darkness”
2016, photography and video
A series I started out of my fear of losing sight. I though blue would be the last color I could see, like when Derek Jarman discovered “Blue is darkness made visible.”
“Friendship and the pink triangle”
2017, photography and collages
My fear came true, what the works experienced has became part of itself in 2018.
“The Garden”
2017, photography and collages
It’s about the way we meet, the way we rebel, the way we treat the same and the different.
“Childhood Revisited”
One of the first projects, back in 2012. I guess my works are all about distances from the world. This one is about distance in time.
“Into the Blue”
This is another part of Blue trilogy. As Rebecca Solnit wrote: “Blue is the color of longing for the distance you never arrive in, for the blue world. The blue at the farthest reaches of the places where you see from miles, the blue of distance. This light that doesn’t touch us, doesn’t not travel the whole distance, the light that gets lost.”
