Low immunisation rates that have claimed hundreds of children’s lives this year are driven by financial shortfalls and logistical hurdles.

Struggle for Global Power Status – GERMAN-FOREIGN-POLICY.com – Trump declaring war on Germany and EU

Dispute over Nord Stream 2 Now the Trump Administration is taking the offensive in two other fields, in which Germany seeks to defend its interests, diverging from those of the USA, to enforce its “strategic autonomy.” One is the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which assures Germany – for the time being [6] – exclusive access to Russian natural gas deposits, as well as granting Berlin a key position in the EU’s natural gas supply. Already at the beginning of the month, a high-ranking State Department official confirmed that if European companies continue construction of the pipeline, they risk “significant sanctions.”[7] Another US government official has now confirmed in the business press that Washington is already preparing sanctions. Reportedly, in Berlin, this is clearly considered an aggression against a NATO partner. Sanctions would certainly lead “to a confrontation – not only with Germany, but with Europe,” a government official in Berlin was quoted. “We will do everything necessary to complete the pipeline.”[8] Dispute over Huawei Simultaneously, the conflict is escalating over the use of the Chinese Huawei Corporation’s technology for setting up the 5G grid in Germany and the E

The approval puts Congress on a collision course with Donald Trump in an unprecedented rebuke of his foreign policy

The Senate has voted to end US support for the Saudi Arabian-led coalition’s war in Yemen, bringing Congress one step closer to a unprecedented rebuke of Donald Trump’s foreign policy.

Lawmakers have never before invoked the decades-old War Powers Resolution to stop a foreign conflict, but they are poised to do just that in the bid to cut off US support for a war that has triggered a humanitarian catastrophe.

Here Come the Frankenfish

watch for the unintended consequences – coming soon – a virus that kills most salmon. The Trump administration has lifted a ban on importing genetically engineered or GE salmon, which critics have long called “Frankenfish,” in a move that consumer advocates charge “runs counter to sound science and market demand.” The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the decision on Friday, more than three years after approving GE salmon as […]

May and Corbyn will never back a second referendum – but MPs must | Anna Soubry

3220.jpg?width=300&quality=85&auto=forma

It is parliament’s duty to stop both main party leaders colluding to deny voters a final say on Brexit
• Former Conservative MP Anna Soubry is now a member of the Independent Group

It’s become the norm in these most extraordinary of political times: the prime minister suffers another humiliating defeat after two years of negotiations on the most important decision in decades, and no one in the House of Commons shouts: “Resign!”

Although there is little, if any, sympathy for Theresa May (the consensus being that she is the author of her own misfortune), no leader of any party stands up and demands she steps down. Even though it’s widely recognised that the prime minister is largely the problem, it’s accepted that the Conservative party is unlikely to find anyone much better to replace her.

  • State department changes term in annual human rights report
  • Israel captured territory from Syria in 1967 war

The US has dropped its description of the Golan Heights from “Israeli-occupied” to “Israeli-controlled” in a state department report, the latest sign of approval towards Israel’s disputed claim to land it captured from Syria.

World powers have long called on Israel to rescind its authority of the strategic region and labelled the occupation as illegal under international law.

Joe Biden and Beto O’Rourke Should Not Run for President

O’Rourke can go back to Texas, seductively discuss steak seasonings, and mull over another 2020 Senate run; he could potentially unseat John Cornyn, who sucks! Biden can retire to Delaware and spend time in the warm embrace of his wife, Jill, and their new dog. Take care of your dog, Joe
