Maria Kolesnikova arrested at Belarus border – The Washington Post

“Maria Kolesnikova could not be taken out of the country because this brave woman took measures to prevent herself from crossing the border,” Gerashchenko added.

Pavel Latushko, a member of the Coordination Council and a former culture minister and diplomat, said Kolesnikova tore up her passport at the border to avoid being expelled, Russia’s Interfax news agency reported.

Kravtsov said at a news conference in Kyiv that they were transported to an area near Belarus’s border with Ukraine by the people who detained them. He said Kolesnilova tore up her passport in the buffer zone between the two borders and walked back to Belarus.

‘How can the UK be trusted?’: Theresa May slams Brexit plan to break international law | Euronews

Footage broadcast by the UK Parliament's Parliamentary Recording Unit (PRU) shows former prime minister Theresa May in the House of Commons in London on October 19, 2019.

The minister confirmed that draft legislation on the UK’s future arrangements for Northern Ireland — due to be published on Wednesday — “does break international law, in a very specific and limited way… in certain, very tightly defined circumstances”. Lewis said there were precedents where the UK and other countries needed “to consider their international obligations as circumstances change”. On Monday European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen warned the United Kingdom that any attempt to row back on its Brexit commitments could jeopardise a future trade agreement

3 Central Florida schools closed due to COVID-19 cases

More and more COVID closure news is not sitting well with parents whose children are doing in-person learning.

“I really worry someday maybe she can catch it,” said parent Wilderme Delicir.

“I have my son doing face-to-face as well and I hope that doesn’t come out of his school. No cases so far and I hope to keep it that way,” Edward said.

Harmony Middle School in Osceola County is also set to return next Monday after 12 teachers tested positive last month.

On Sunday, Olympia High School in Orange County announced its closure for two weeks with six positive cases and one pending.

Oklahoma State vs. Tulsa game postponed a week after COVID-19 cases disrupt Golden Hurricane practices – CBSSports.com

The scheduled Sept. 12 game between Oklahoma State and Tulsa has been pushed back a week due to disruptions in preseason practice caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The game will instead be played the following week in Stillwater, Oklahoma, on Sept. 19, per a release from Tulsa on Monday night.

“The safety and health of our student-athletes is always at the core of all of our discussions and decisions. Without time to properly prepare physically we would be putting our student-athletes at a greater risk of injury,” said Tulsa AD Derrick Gragg in the release. “An open date for both schools presented us with the opportunity to reschedule the game for a week later. I’m appreciative of Mike Holder and Oklahoma State University for their cooperation in coming to this decision.”

Pastor holds prayer rally in defiance of coronavirus health guidelines at the California State Capitol – CBS News (more profiteering than loving others for this one)

Infectious disease expert, Dr. Dean Blumberg, said it’s possible that there were many people at the gathering who were potentially infectious, who were either pre-symptomatic or asymptomatic, and could transmit COVID-19 to others.

“That’s really a recipe for transmission and can lead to further outbreaks not only among the people who are in attendance but their contacts, too,” Blumberg said.

Address Military Redundancy

In Saner Thought

These days of an ever expanding Defense budget and no plan to try and rein in the out of control spending….I had a thought…..

I have often asked myself the question about the amount of redundancy within the US military.

3 service Air Force, 4 separate special ops, on and on…….

Take armor for instance….the Army has its force and the Marines have theirs…..why?

Why not have one Air Force, 1 special ops, one armor?

Well the Marines have decided to end their armor program…..

Marine Corps M1A1 Abrams tanks of the 2nd Tank Battalion left Camp Lejeune, N.C., for the last time this week as part of the service’s sweeping modernization plan that envisions a more agile force.

Tank units on the East and West coasts shuttered this month and began hauling their armor to military depots, the service said.

The Marine Corps will eventually divest of all three…
