VEM comigo!

“There is no way to erase racism from history. There is no way to erase black people from history.
There is no way to erase the story.
What we can do is build new stories based on those we have, but without forgetting a comma ”.

People are dying as a result of the government’s actions. Remember them. — The poor side of life

Dear readers I need to apologize because I’m late publishing my blog this week. There’s no real excuse for this but I’ve had a stressful week and I haven’t been sleeping well. I find it hard to write when I’m over tired. This week I was reminded of one cold Thursday morning outside Ashton Jobcentre. […]

A System for Sharing Household Heat Is Growing Beneath France

geothermal District energy systems produce hot (and sometimes cold) water at a central location, then channel that water through underground pipes to buildings, either heating or cooling them. This eliminates the need for individual boilers and reduces carbon emissions, since producing heating and cooling at a central location is more efficient than generating it one building at a time. The French plan takes this model and makes it even more sustainable by producing the heat with a green energy source: geothermal energy. Behind the shine: how the jewellery trade relies on minerals tainted with death | openDemocracy

In Latin America, illegal small-scale mining increased under the cover of COVID-19 – with destructive consequences. “Mining in the Amazon has a devastating effect on the environment,” says Kippenberg of the illegal operations pushing deeper and deeper into the rainforest. “Illegal gold mining also poses a particular threat to indigenous communities who may be particularly vulnerable to COVID-19.” Source: Behind the shine: how the jewellery trade relies on minerals tainted with death | openDemocracy

They want to find GOLD, it was their greed that killed most of our elders long ago!

… Tal vez terminen diciéndose a sí…

Face masks considerably reduce COVID-19 cases in Germany | PNAS

There is a general perception in Germany that the mandatory use of face masks in public reduces COVID-19 incidences considerably. This perception stems mainly from the city of Jena. After face masks became mandatory between 1 April and 10 April 2020 the number of new infections fell almost to zero. Jena is not the only region in Germany, however, that introduced face masks. Six further regions made masks compulsory before the introduction at the federal state level. Eventually, face masks became mandatory in all federal states between 20 April and 29 April 2020 (see SI Appendix, section A for background).
