Researchers from Tel Aviv University (TAU) have proven that the coronavirus can be killed efficiently, quickly, and cheaply using ultraviolet (UV) light-emitting diodes (UV-LEDs). They believe that the UV-LED technology will soon be available for private and commercial use. This is the first study conducted on the disinfection efficiency of UV-LED irradiation at different wavelengths or frequencies on a virus from the family of coronaviruses. The study was led by Professor Hadas Mamane, Head of the Environmental Engineering Program at TAU’s School of Mechnical Engineering, Iby and Aladar Fleischman Faculty of Engineering. The article was published in November 2020 issue of the Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B: Biology.

Top Michigan Republicans shut down prospect of overturning result for Trump as Electoral College meets | TheHill
State Senate majority leader Mike Shirkey (R) and House Speaker Lee Chatfield (R) issued separate statements on Monday making clear the legislature would not appoint electors that undercut the state’s popular vote, which Joe Biden won by nearly 140,000 votes. The statements came as Michigan closed its legislative office buildings on Monday due to credible threats of violence.
“Again – I fought hard for President Trump. Nobody wanted him to win more than me,” Chatfield said. “I think he’s done an incredible job. But I love our republic, too. I can’t fathom risking our norms, traditions and institutions to pass a resolution retroactively changing the electors for Trump, simply because some think there may have been enough widespread fraud to give him the win.
“That’s unprecedented for good reason,” he added. “And that’s why there is not enough support in the House to cast a new slate of electors. I fear we’d lose our country forever. This truly would bring mutually assured destruction for every future election in regards to the Electoral College. And I can’t stand for that. I won’t.”

For Boris Johnson, self-interest is always first. That’s why he’ll do a Brexit deal | Polly Toynbee

The prime minister only has to glance at the polls to see little support for no deal. He knows any blame will lie with him alone
Boris Johnson is a genius at just one thing. He will always get this one question right: what’s best for me? That’s why it takes no psychoanalyst, telepathist or cup of tea leaves to read his simple mind over his great deal-or-no-deal dilemma. It has to be a deal.
