DOJ: Man accused of storming U.S. Capitol in Jan. 6 riot arrested in Glendora

A man accused of violently storming the U.S. Capitol Building with other rioters last week was arrested in Glendora late Wednesday night, according to a Department of Justice bulletin.

Hunter Allen Ehmke, 20, faces charges of destroying government property, violent and disorderly conduct and obstructing an official proceeding, federal prosecutors said.

FBI agents arrested Ehmke at his Glendora home just past 8 p.m., an FBI official said. The agents then turned him over to local police to hold overnight in their jail, according to Glendora police.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s booking records showed Ehmke was being held without bail.

Records show Ehmke was transferred to another agency’s custody at around 7:44 a.m. on Thursday. The agency was not listed, but he was likely transferred to federal custody because of the nature of the charges against him.

Department of Justice officials said Ehmke was expected to appear in federal court in downtown Los Angeles later this afternoon.

Kevin Seefried, who carried Confederate flag into the Capitol, arrested

The two men were identified after a co-worker of Hunter Seefried contacted the FBI to say Hunter “had bragged about being in the Capitol with his father” during the riot, the document says.

On Tuesday, both men spoke to the FBI in separate voluntary interviews, according to the document.

In addition to each of them confirming they had been in the Capitol, “Kevin Seefried also explained that he brought the Confederate Battle flag seen” in a photo “to the District of Columbia from his home in Delaware where it is usually displayed outside,” the document says.

“Kevin Seefried told law enforcement that he had traveled with his family from Delaware to the District of Columbia to hear President Trump speak and that he and Hunter Seefried participated in the march from the White House to the Capitol led by an individual with a bull horn,” according to the document.

The document also says that video footage on Twitter shows Hunter Seefried punching out glass in a window at the Capitol after it was smashed by others with a wooden two-by-four.

Biden Covid advisor: Releasing most vaccine doses won’t cause shortage

The Biden administration’s plan to release nearly every available dose of coronavirus vaccines to states shouldn’t cause any supply issues down the road, a member of President-elect Joe Biden’s Covid-19 advisory board said Thursday. The advisory team has had numerous conversations with vaccine makers Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson, among others, about supply issues, said Dr. Celine Gounder. Barring some unforeseen “manufacturing snafu,” the Biden administration is “confident” there won’t be problems getting people their second shots on time, she said.

China bars two members of WHO coronavirus mission as depleted team reaches Wuhan – The Washington Post

two researchers were kept in Singapore, where they were transiting, and prevented from continuing to Wuhan after failing to clear health checks. China requires all airline passengers to present negative antibody tests before being able to travel to the country.

The pair had tested positive for coronavirus antibodies in their home countries before leaving. All members of the team, tested before leaving and once again in Singapore, tested negative for the virus.

Why Indonesia is prioritizing the young for coronavirus vaccines – The Washington Post

In Indonesia, that means prioritizing the working-age population, who have accounted for the majority of confirmed cases in the country. The rollout is “focusing on people who have to meet lots of people as part of their work; motorbike taxi, police, military,” Budi said, according to the BBC. “So, I don’t want people to think this is about just the economy. This is about protecting people.”

The government plans to inoculate some 1.5 million health workers with the Sinovac vaccine by next month, Reuters reported. Police officers, members of the military, teachers and civil servants will also be prioritized before the vaccine is offered to the broader population of adults under 60.

Indonesia’s hope is that by slowing down community spread in younger residents, they will still protect older people from being infected by relatives or close contacts. Many families in Indonesia live in intergenerational households that make it nearly impossible for older relatives to isolate from younger family members.
