Privileges : Friend or Family?

Inhale Peace; Exhale Love. Joy will Follow! - RUELHA

I had a childhood friend. As a teenager, I've known him since then. He was part of our close friends circle. At a time when all of us were nocturnal. Christmas dances and birthday parties. When it wasn't legal for us to own car keys. And then life happened and we lost touch. A decade of years, it's been that much. But now, he married someone dear from my immediate family. So he's present for just about everything, actually. Ever since that happened, I've been elated. But, there is something that seems debated. It's so awesome to have that comfort level at family events. Because of the camaraderie we shared as kids when we were friends. This time as the family got together, I asked him jokingly, I'm confused; are you my friend or are you family? To which he laughed and responded, "a bit of both." I am just…

Letter III – SMITTY, Somewhere At Sea At A Loss

Pacific Paratrooper

May 1944 – US troops relax laying cards while a troopship takes them to their deployment.

From my father’s description of his transport ship out of San Francisco and the approximate number of soldiers that were aboard, I can speculate that it was a Heywood class ship. As the ship lumbered out to the ocean swells, many of the young men took their final glance of the USA. Smitty thought that his most boring time in the army was while he sailed on this cruise, although he did well in learning how to play cards – as did many other G.I.’s.

USS Heywood

As they boarded, the ship’s crew immediately began enforcing the security procedures. All portholes and hatches were covered and no lights were allowed after dusk. The heat below deck would become intolerable. The arrival of the “ditty bags” filled with toiletries, cigarettes, gum and a harmonica brightened…

Marie Curie

Google translation: ”Life is not easy for anyone. But… what does it matter? It is necessary to preserve and, above all, to trust ourselves. We have to feel that we are gifted to accomplish a certain thing and that we have to achieve it. Whatever it takes!

Pensamentos.me/VEM comigo!

” A vida não é fácil para ninguém. Mas…O que importa? É necessária preservar e, acima de tudo, confiar em nós próprios. Temos de sentir que somos dotados para realizar uma determinada coisa e que temos de alcancá-la. Custe o que custar!

Pensamentos.me/ VEM comigo!

Pensamentos.me/VEM comigo!

May Nature Walk

Michael Stephen Wills Photography

Pam and I headed out to Treman Park for a walk to the Lucifer Falls overlook. The Gorge Trail is not yet open due to the danger of rock falling from the gorge walls — the park maintenance staff needs to survey winter damage and knock down material in danger of falling.

Our first stop was the mill waterfall. This was was directed to the mill stream to power the mill where grain was ground to order.

Here is an overview of the Mill, now a museum not yet opened post-Covid. The millstone stands at the start of the foot trails. All media on this post is from my IPhone 7, lightweight equipment for this hike. The automatic upload to ICloud is convenient.

Round trip is four-plus miles, with several hundred feet elevation change. Pam and I discussed a car caravan for our next visit, to support a one-way downhill…

Hard Work Never Fails….

Everything you learn

As we know that…

SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE

We work, but the result is failed because your not loving it what you do.

Question yourself about your passion and dreams which make you happy.

First of all, avoid people who discourage you and find who support you.

Find the people what you love, and take advice from them. Then you can know pros and cons of what are you doing.

If you fail, try again, try again…..then at the end, you will get success.

TRY AND TRY UNTIL YOU SUCCEED

If you love your work there is no effect or stress to you.

Try things differently, without hard work you will not gain anything success or happiness.

Think bold, don’t take any thing to your heart.

You discourage them show them what you are.

Daily do what you like and do your work it will boost you.

Remove…

Yet Another Way Republicans Are Squashing Democracy

Citizen initiatives were long promoted by Progressive Republicans and others in the early 1900s as a means to give citizens more control over government – now, Trumpians are trying to make government more powerful over citizens by taking away voting rights – https://ballotpedia.org/History_of_initiative_and_referendum_in_the_U.S.

Filosofa's Word

I was almost finished writing a post for this afternoon when this one by TokyoSand over at Political Charge caught my eye, and it is on a topic that is too important not to share.  Please take a minute or two to read her entire post about another way in which the Republican Party is working to rob us of a voice in our government.  Thank you once again, TS!

Restricting access to voting is one obvious way Republicans are making America less democratic, but they are also working behind the scenes to eliminate another way regular citizens can get their voices heard.

Because we are a representative democracy, the most obvious way to get our values and voices heard in our federal or state government is by electing politicians who hold our same values. But there’s another tool we have that lets us practice direct democracy — yes, a…

Video shows illegal gold miners attacking indigenous village in Brazil

A group of illegal gold miners fired shots at an indigenous village in Roraima state in northern Brazil on May 10. A video of the attack, filmed by members of the Yanomami community who live there, is proof of what the Yanomami have been saying for years, that there has been a sharp increase in violence across their territory since the arrival of close to 20,000 illegal gold miners. With clashes continuing throughout the week, local organisations are calling for an increase in security forces.
