Calzone

Nourish

We started Nourish one year ago with our favorite pizza recipe and have now come full-circle. The original calzoni from Italy were oven-baked folded-over individual pizzas made to be eaten on the go. We keep our version simple with classic marinara sauce and shredded cheese in the middle, although you can fill yours with any other toppings you typically enjoy on pizza.

STEP ONE – Preparations

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Lightly spray a large baking sheet with canola spray.
  3. Get out a large bowl and a medium saucepan.

STEP TWO – Make the Dough

Ingredients:

1 packet dry active yeast
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon fine sea salt
1 teaspoon white sugar
⅔ cup warm water
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil

Instructions:

  1. In the large bowl, combine the yeast, flour, salt, and sugar.
  2. Add the water and oil and mix until the ingredients form a ball…

Kosovska bitka, Kosovo polje, Zemlja Brankovića (danas Srbija) – Battle of Kosovo, Kosovo Polje, Brankovic Land (today Serbia)

Myrela

Prvi izvori o samoj bici govore o srpskoj pobjedi, a tek kasnije se javljaju navodi o neriješenom ishodu i srpskom porazu…

On Modesty

bluejayblog

An ancient Zen master used a saying when he taught his student monks about modesty: “It is hard to live long with a great name.” I’ve tried numerous times to find out the name of that Zen master. I’ve never seen a definitive clue. Evidently, the teacher followed his own advice. Regarding the virtue of modesty, many people in East Asia believed that avoiding fame, perfecting integrity, and stressing modesty were core values for a joyful, contented life; with the accent being placed on “contented”. In this case, “contented” does not mean settling for mediocrity. “Contented” means grateful and pleased with one’s state of being.

Modesty should not to be mistaken for false modesty or humble bragging. In many ways, false modesty is a great hindrance to integrity and contentment in life. In the outward sense, false modesty affects how a person presents her/himself. It implies the lack of discretion…

Aksum, Etiopija – Axum, Ethiopia

Myrela

Letter VII Land

Pacific Paratrooper

native hut in New Guinea

For a period of five months the 11th Airborne Division would receive jungle warfare and intensified combat unit ground training in the primitive land of jungles and mountains and thatched huts and the native population fondly called, Fuzzy Wuzzies.  The Papua brigades and Allied forces, that fought in what constituted the Cartwheel Operations before the troopers arrived, made this landing possible.

The Dobodura area that the 11th A/B would make their home was inherited from the 5th Air Force.  The first order of business was for the 408th Quartermaster trucks to deliver the pyramidal tents.

  Dear Mom,

Well, here we are on the island of New Guinea.  From what we can see if it so far, I know we’ll never go hungry as the coconut trees are as thick as a swarm of bees.

Infrastructure “Deal”? No Deal for Workers and the Climate

Working-Class Perspectives

The long-awaited infrastructure bill is slowly coming into focus. Last Thursday, President Joe Biden stood alongside of Republicans and Democrats to announce that “We have a deal” — $579 billion in new federal spending for roads, broadband, electric utilities, and other infrastructure. Emphasizing the bipartisan compromise, Biden said, “I think it’s really important we’ve all agreed that none of us got all that we wanted.”

That’s for sure. Clearly some parties got more of what they wanted than others. When Biden announced his America Jobs Plan in March, it raised great hopes for many and concerns across the political spectrum. For instance, Republicans panned the proposal because it would reverse some provisions oftheir regressive 2017 tax package to create a fairer tax code. Business owners got what they wanted in the compromise. Instead of corporate tax increases or a wealth tax, the compromise will be funded by vastly…

Nacionalni park Kinabalu, Malezija – Kinabalu National Park, Malaysia

use Google translation to enjoy this excellence essay on a national park in Malaysia

Myrela

ESCUCHE EL MENSAJE DEL CHAMAN YANOMAMI – ¡EL LLAMADO DE LA SELVA TROPICAL!

Barbara Crane Navarro

Siempre estabas mirando hacia abajo

Te avisamos desde el principio

La tierra esta viva

Esta tierra no puede ser propiedad

Esta tierra somos nosotros

Todos nosotros

Querías las piedras

Oro

Tus cosas brillantes

Títulos – Banderas – Beneficios

Lo llamaste progreso

Tratamos de enseñarte

Pero siempre fuiste tan codicioso

Demasiado primitivo – demasiado salvaje

para entender

Ahora todavía traes maldiciones sobre los Yanomami

Enfermedades

ceniza y barro

Cinco siglos

Nunca miraste hacia arriba para averiguarlo

lo que mantenemos en su lugar

El cielo mismo

Tus ciudades pueden ver eso

Tus culturas pueden ver eso

Tus hijos pueden ver…
