Tuscan Tomato Bisque

snapshotsincursive

What’s Cooking in Gail’s Kitchen? The Chow Down: Tuscan Tomato Bisque! Picture this. Autumn has set in, the air emits a crisp chill, and a warm fire is enough to make you snuggle inside for the night. For the robust concentrated flavor of tomatoes, slow-roasting them brings it all home. Earthy Italian herbs and spices add a little mystery to every bite. Cozy up to a bowl with your favorite afghan and reap the harvest.

Thoughtful Thursdays, Stayed on Freedom with the Call of Freedom, and Community

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

It is crucial that we each help our society to become more fully inclusive for all of us today, and to come and work together, for all of us, no?

I believe that attention to shared histories, as in DC, may provide part of an answer.  I started a note about that, a few years ago, in my book Stayed on Freedom’s Call:

” … that the Jewish shop owners would allow Black customers to “sign the book” as
a way of purchasing goods on credit, payable at the end of the month.

Such family grocery store owners as Al and Ida Mendelson of 4401 Sheriff Road in the Deanwood neighborhood, who might have known Marvin Gaye ́s family,
took a great risk by cooperating with their colored customers, whom White society mistrusted, in allowing them credit to the end of the month. This cooperation was recalled by Hayden…

Death On Our Doorstep — Thanks Exxon-Mobil

Filosofa's Word

The average temperature in much of British Columbia, Canada, in the month of July is a comfortable 73° (F) or 23° (C).  Earlier this week, still in June, the temperature in parts of British Columbia reached 121.28° (F), or 49.6° (C).  Nearly fifty degrees hotter than the average July temperature before it’s even July!  I don’t know about you, but I cannot imagine being in temps over 100°, let alone 121°!!!  In the U.S., Oregon and Washington experienced the same heat wave with crushing, debilitating temperatures.  Why?  C’mon folks, think about it … you know why and so do I … this is exactly what scientists have been warning us about for decades … this is the global warming that half the people in this country say is a hoax.  Well, guess what, climate deniers?  The state of Oregon reported 63 deaths attributed to the heat wave that finally broke…

Covid Live News: EU Travel Passes – The New York Times

Digital Covid-19 certificates aimed at facilitating free movement in the European Union came into force across the bloc on Thursday, a long-awaited milestone for countries hoping to boost their ailing tourism industries.

Free movement is a key pillar of European integration, and E.U. officials said last month that the certificates would “again enable citizens to enjoy this most tangible and cherished of E.U. rights.”

Through a Q.R. code issued by their country of residence, certificate holders will be able to show that they have been either fully vaccinated, tested negative or have immunity after a recent recovery. That will exempt them from most travel or quarantine restrictions.

Many European governments have already eased such rules, and each member nation can still revive protective measures if a country’s health situation deteriorates. Germany, for instance, has imposed restrictions on travelers coming from Portugal, which has faced a surge of new cases driven by the spread of the Delta variant.

Federal judge blocks Florida social media law, cites First Amendment | AppleInsider

In a blow to conservative efforts to wrangle social media companies, a federal judge on Wednesday blocked a Florida law that would penalize firms like Facebook and Twitter for “de-platforming” or silencing politicians.

Scheduled to go into effect on Thursday, SB 7072 placed prohibitions on tech companies that ban or “de-platform” political candidates and news outlets from their services. The measure, a groundbreaking piece of legislation, saddles offenders with daily fines, opens the door to direct litigation from users, and creates an antitrust blacklist.

Milk … this controversial food – InTheNameOfSeitan

Milk … this controversial food

The following is just my reflection
a point of view on today’s reality and what has been there ,
inculcated voluntarily o involuntarily from the mists of time.

We are the only beings in the animal kingdom who continue to drink milk
maternal after weaning, and in addition of milk naturally designed for
the need for a puppy (bovine) which is intended to weigh some
hundred kilograms.

Living with adult children

Anita's Perspectives on Life

How to cope with the situation when things change suddenly

Coping with adult children was never easy. In fact, parenting is more difficult when they are adults. Parent’s hearts and minds are always involved in their children no matter how old they are. But staying with them is a different challenge altogether.😇

A Pew Research Center poll from July 2020 found that around1 in 10 adults ages 18 to 29 said they moved in because of the outbreak. What may have seemed like a temporary situation last year now feels a lot more permanent, which doesn’t make the situation any easier.

Laura Murray, PhD, a senior scientist in the department of mental health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, said that a number of stressful conditions right now, including the coronavirus pandemic, can lead to more tension. Adding the stress of moving back home after being…
