Jamaica set to seek compensation from Britain over slave trade – The Washington Post

Jamaica is preparing to request compensation from Britain over its role in the transatlantic slave trade in the 17th and 18th centuries — when at least 600,000 Africans were shipped to the Caribbean as enslaved people — Jamaican officials told Reuters. Jamaica long served as a key node in a slave trade network that spanned continents, driven by Spain and then Britain. The country, a former British colony independent since 1962, is set to seek reparations in a petition submitted to Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II. Olivia Grange, Jamaica’s minister of sports, youth and culture, told Reuters her government would seek “reparatory justice in all forms” to “repair the damages that our ancestors experienced.”

QAnon-Supporting Senate Candidate Attacked by QAnon (Me: ROTFLMAO)

An evangelical pastor hoping to unseat Oklahoma Senator James Lankford by embracing QAnon has, ironically, been accused of devil worship and child sex trafficking by QAnon after he posted a photograph of his daughter wearing red shoes—an unequivocal sign that one is a Satan-worshipping pedophile to the fringe conspiracy group. Who would have thought that a group that finds Satanists and child traffickers behind every pizza oven would turn on one of their own over some inconsequential detail!

Tennessee Department of Health Stops All Vaccine Outreach to Teenagers, Ignoring Actual Public Health Guidance

According to an internal report and agency emails, the Tennessee Department of Health is halting all vaccine outreach to teenagers—not just related to the covid-19 vaccine, but to vaccines for all diseases. Additionally, the health department will no longer hold covid-19 vaccine events on school property and plans to stop sending postcards or other notices reminding teenagers to get their second dose of the covid-19 vaccine.

Russia’s pandemic website stops reporting number of active coronavirus cases — Meduza

The Russian government’s online hub for the pandemic, stopkorona.rf, has stopped publishing statistics on the number of active coronavirus cases across the country.

Previously, the overall number of people currently sick with the coronavirus was included in the website’s “real-time data” section; there were also detailed statistics broken down by region. According to a web archive, this information hasn’t been published on the website since July 8. At the time, Russia had 423,422 active cases.

Based on the total number of infections minus the sum of recoveries and fatalities, the number of active coronaviru

Pustite djecu da skaču

Vivaldi translated: Let the kids jump
19JAN 2021

Research has shown that spontaneous jumping is good for children’s health for several reasons. Jumping is a real cardiovascular exercise, a training that strengthens the heart and muscles. It improves the coordination of toddlers, because they use both sides of the brain and body during this activity to maintain balance. Then, when they jump, they stimulate the lymph, and thus eliminate toxins from the body. And most importantly, jumping makes them happy.

Myrela

COVID and Underlying Medical Conditions

The “Fear or anxiety-related disorder” must release chemicals in the body that reduce one’s ability to fight against the effects of the virus…

CRAIN'S COMMENTS

A new analysis of data on 540,667 people admitted to one of 800 hospitals in the US for Covid between March 2020 and March 2021 provides some interesting insights:

  • Covid accounted for 11% of all hospitalizations during that period of time. So much for the skeptics.
  • People with severe COVID tended to have one or more underlying medical conditions, most commonly:
    • Hypertension (high blood pressure)
    • Lipid metabolism disorder
    • Obesity
  • The underlying conditions most strongly associated with death are:
    • Obesity
    • Fear or anxiety-related disorder
    • Diabetes with complications
    • Having multiple underlying disorders

This is the first analysis I’ve seen that links mental state to survival. Apparently, your mental attitude toward your illness affects your ability to get through it.

California backtracks on a rule that bans unmasked students from school campuses.

Additionally, schools should offer alternative educational opportunities for students who are excluded from campus because they will not wear a face covering.

Last Monday, a new rule issued by the State of California to ban K-12 students from campuses if they refuse to wear masks indoors has been overturned.

The California Department of Health initially published its guidance that K-12 schools should not accept students that refuse to wear masks while indoors, and instead have to be offered alternative educational opportunities. But hours later, the Department of Health backtracked on the rule on Twitter.

California’s school guidance will be clarified regarding masking enforcement, recognizing local schools’ experience in keeping students and educators safe while ensuring schools fully reopen for in-person instruction.

California Department of Health Twitter.

They now allow schools to decide for themselves how it is best to deal with the issue.

Consistent with guidance from the 2020-21 school year, schools must develop and implement local protocols to enforce the mask requirements. Additionally, schools should…
