Meatpacking Giant Tyson Mandates Vaccines for All Workers – Mother Jones

With the highly contagious Delta variant now circulating in the United States, Tyson has emerged as the first meatpacking company to mandate that all its employees—from executives to workers on the kill floor—be vaccinated against COVID. Current packinghouse workers will have until Nov. 1 to go through a full course of vaccine shots; new hires will have to show proof of vaccination before their start dates. The company’s announcement doesn’t mention whether workers will be given paid time off to receive and recover from the shots, but it is offering a $200 bonus to fully vaccinated team members “as thank you for doing your part to keep us all safe.” (Tyson did not respond to requests for comment on whether workers will be offered time off to get the jabs.)

Valley 5-year-old gets COVID just weeks after return to school

“They should be able to go to school, their education shouldn’t be hurt, their socialization shouldn’t be hurt,” said Heidi Kim. It’s an ideal scenario the Valley mom hoped would play out for her two young girls. But just two weeks into the school year, her five-year-old now has COVID-19. “There are a total of three kids in her class who wear masks and my older daughter, there are two kids including her, so one other kid that wears a mask,” said Heidi. Heidi’s daughters attend EduPrize in San Tan Valley. The charter school sent out a letter to parents outlining safety protocols being taken and urging the use of masks but admitting they couldn’t mandate them. “I could home school them again, I did this last year but I need to get back to work and I was just really hoping that people would do the right thing and send their kids in masks,” said Heidi.

FEMINICÍDIO

Vivaldi translation of first line: How many women will continue to die each year because of gender discrimination, hatred, contempt, and violence?

Pensamentos.me/VEM comigo!

Indonesia surpasses 100,000 deaths amid new virus wave – The Washington Post

Indonesia surpassed 100,000 confirmed COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday, a grim milestone in a country struggling with its worst pandemic wave fueled by the delta variant, amid concerns the actual figure could be much higher.

It took 14 months for Indonesia to exceed the 50,000 death mark at the end of May, and just over nine weeks to double it. The Health Ministry recorded 1,747 new deaths of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 100,636.
