Disinfection robots and thermal body cameras: welcome to the Covid-free office | Work & careers | The Guardian

More than a dozen other buildings, from the US to Singapore, are in the process of obtaining their Immune certification, according to Liviu Tudor, the CEO of Genesis. The H3 building, as the most protected space so far, acts as the showroom, incorporating all 135 of the recommended measures.

The project is open source “in an effort to pool the best ideas”, says Tudor, who has lodged an application with the EU in the hope it will form the basis for a new standard across the bloc, similar to conventional fire safety codes. It embraces everything from technological innovation and scientific knowledge to workplace psychology, he says, and he hopes it will embolden both employers and employees, millions of whom are now engaged in an intense conversation about whether it is safe to return to the office – and if so, how.

The project is, in effect, Tudor’s attempt to help revive the commercial real estate industry, shunned by investors at the height of the pandemic. He is keenly aware of the risks to his business if companies decide they no longer need, or cannot afford, office space.

South Carolina local GOP leader dies of COVID-19 | TheHill

Although Stutts used the platform to encourage his followers to take the virus seriously, he also voiced his opposition to mask mandates and said people should not be forced to get the vaccine. “Mandates and coercions DO NOT WORK especially when they come to us from a government that has repeatedly lied to the American People time and time again,” Stutts wrote on Facebook.

Hundreds arrested, fined during Australia lockdown protests – The Washington Post

More than 250 people who were protesting coronavirus lockdowns in Australia were arrested Saturday and many faced fines for defying health orders, authorities said. At least seven police officers were treated for injuries after skirmishes broke out at some of the protests, which took place in multiple cities nationwide. The largest and most violent protest was in Melbourne. Many were organized by people in encrypted online chat groups. Sydney has been in lockdown for two months, while Melbourne and the capital, Canberra, went into lockdown earlier this month. Under the rules of the lockdown, people are mostly confined to their homes and have limits placed on their social interactions.

Separatist languages: the history of 13 linguistic conflicts around the world – Mágica Mistura 能

Eles sequer sabiam ler e escrever. Com o passar dos…

Google partial translation: Is Brazilian Portuguese still the same language used in Portugal? Some experts argue not. The language spoken here was imposed on indigenous peoples by clerics and disseminated in the mouths of a population mostly made up of sailors, artisans and other poor and marginalized Portuguese people. They didn’t even know how to read and write.

Birds from Walden blue heron

Blue herons are pure magic! Elegant magic…

Words from Walden

blue heron

This beautiful bird can be found at the edge of the pond, often sneaking through the long grass in search of frogs.

The heron stands tall and straight in its posture helped by its long legs. Slow to move unless it has to.

Colours of a purple-ish grey-blue separate the truly majestic-looking creature from other similar typed birds such as osprey and flamingos.

This huge bird has a massive wingspan and simultaneously looks elegant and cumbersome at the same time while trying to take off.

It furiously flaps its wide wings barely clearing the treeline as it flys away in an upwards path that does not allow much leeway for mistakes.

At times it will fly through the tree branches because it can not clear the treetops, yet it still manages to not crash into the leaves.

Always making seemingly hard work look easy, the heron eventually reaches…

Angela Guerrero, Stockholm University and Malika Virah-Sawmy, Humboldt University of Berlin Soy may have a pretty innocuous reputation thanks to its association with vegan food and meat alternatives. But don’t be fooled – crops of this pale legume are behind much of Brazil’s epidemic of deforestation. Since 2000, Brazil has doubled its total area of[…]

For all Amazonian tribes, the forest is the most precious asset. For all Amazonian tribes, the forest is their home and their life. But whites don’t see a forest, they only see gold. They seek it, they want it at all costs, they demand it and they will cause the death of all. Because if[…][…]
