Mass protests in Poland amid EU law controversy – BBC News

On Thursday Poland’s top court ruled that key articles of EU law were “incompatible” with the constitution.

It sparked fears that Poland could exit the union, prompting calls for major demonstrations nationwide on Sunday.

Organisers said protests took place in more than 100 towns and cities, with some 100,000 people turning out in Warsaw alone.

Donald Tusk, former President of the European Council and now leader of the opposition party Civic Platform, called on people to “defend a European Poland” at the rally in the capital.

LANDBACK Friends

I first learned about the Wet’suwet’en peoples in British Columbia when I saw this YouTube video, Coastal Gaslink Evicted from Unist’ot’en Territory, January 5, 2020. Having worked so hard to protect water from the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines, I was amazed to see this peaceful eviction of a pipeline company.

From that day I closely followed any news I could find about the Wet’suwet’en peoples. Not surprisingly there was almost nothing in the mainstream news. As a result, people involved in the conflicts continually asked us to use social media to spread the news of what was happening there. I try to do that as much as I can. I was in contact with those at the scene to send them news of what we were doing in Iowa. And validate what I was hearing from other sources.

Japanese Proverb #2

A frog in a well knows nothing of the sea.

The meaning of the proverb is that most of us see the world only through our limited perspective.

We tend to consider ourselves smarter and more important than we really are. But this is just something due to our ignorance of what’s out of our direct sight and experience.

We must always remember that we are a part of a bigger, interconnected Universe.

Let’s expand our knowledge, experience, and awareness.
