Countdown…

Lolsys Library

I find it’s always better to be organised for these sorts of things. Make sure that you have enough candy, chocolates and lollies for Halloween trick and treat, a costume (even if you only trick and treat), Movies! Music! Then you have to consider anything extra. Like what shall I do for Samhain. I’m going to be alone for most of the Halloween weekend! Do I dare watch the scary films!

So far, I’ve gotten at least one bucket of sweeties, but I definitely need more.

I need to look through my stuff to see if I have simple costume for trick and/or treating, haha.

Do I have “creepy” music playing in the background, for when someone knocks on the door?

There are a lot of things to consider, and I’m not even throwing a party!

Sweet Potato Stacks

snapshotsincursive

What’s Cooking in Gail’s Kitchen? Equal Measures: Sweet Potato Stacks! Bring gourmet taste, with a quirk of presentation, to the dinner table tonight. It’s not rocket science. In fact, you may find yourself giggling at how ridiculously simple this is to make. When I pierced each stack with a rosemary sprig, my husband nearly fell out of his chair in amusement. (It’s not at all necessary. The sweet potato stacks stand upright on their own.) Roasted in a muffin tin, and drizzled with pure maple syrup are two trade secrets you can share with others. Or keep to yourself. Either way, it’s a tower of Yum.

SWEET POTATO STACKS

Ingredients:

3 sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced

4 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon rosemary leaves

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 cup pure maple syrup

1 cup parmesan cheese, grated

Fresh rosemary leaves, chopped

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 400°. Spray a 12-cup…

There are no real climate leaders yet – who will step up at Cop26? | Greta Thunberg | The Guardian

Because science doesn’t lie. The facts are crystal clear, but we just refuse to accept them. We refuse to acknowledge that we now have to choose between saving the living planet or saving our unsustainable way of life. Because we want both. We demand both.

But the undeniable truth is that we have left it too late for that. And no matter how uncomfortable that reality may seem, this is exactly what our leaders have chosen for us with their decades of inaction. Their decades of blah, blah, blah.

Science doesn’t lie. If we are to stay below the targets set in the 2015 Paris agreement – and thereby minimise the risks of setting off irreversible chain reactions beyond human control – we need immediate, drastic, annual emission reductions unlike anything the world has ever seen. And since we don’t have the technological solutions which alone will do anything close to that in the foreseeable future, it means we have to make fundamental changes to our society.

We are currently on track for at least a 2.7C hotter world by the end of the century – and that’s only if countries meet all the pledges that they have made. Currently they are nowhere near doing that. We are “seemingly light years away from reaching our climate action targets”, to once again quote Guterres.

HAS GAIA GOT ALZHEIMER’S? ARE WE IT? #humanity #adaptation #climatecatastrophe — Lordan’s Lit

Barbara Crane Navarro

Life began on Earth about 3.4 billion years ago. That’s older than we can really take in. We can describe this length of time, we can write it out & tote it up, but we can’t really comprehend it. This is one of the signs of the mismatch between individual human consciousness and the vast[…]
