Gnocchetti sardi con i ceci neri

InTheNameOfSeitan

½ cipolla

1 carota piccolina

1 costa di sedano

Wondering Wednesdays, Do Better, Chapter 6 on steps to get to Phase III

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

This post is the rough draft of  Chapter 6, section III, for my non-fiction WiP, Do Better, formerly titled Baby Acres/Floors.

Putting a floor on poverty so that every baby born can have a safe childhood.

Once again, by way of disclaimer, the overall goal is now to explain why we need both equity and justice, and why in 4 phases.  This chapter is part of showing what Phases I-IV could look like as potential roadmap for a fully inclusive society for all of us.  This vision is laid out in the hope that All HumanKind  will eventually have each person’s basic needs  met, without taking anything from anyone, and without violence, intimidation, nor coercion of any kind.

Chapter 6 section III:

( Chapter 6, section II was last week…)

Mágica

Vivaldi translation: The magic of life happens when we quicken the good things within us. I repeat: the magic of life happens when we quicken the good things within us. You doubt? Daily, we bring to life the things that make our hearts beat. How many people live for living? For embracing the superfluous? There are those who live for different reasons, delicacy is one of them! It makes us grateful for the magic of what few eyes see in the darkness.

Good night!

Good night!

The Cockpit Country issue: a prospecting licence in Jamaica’s Maroon Lands?

Petchary's Blog

Cockpit Country is under threat, as never before. Here is another development, which needs some clarification and explanation. Jamaica Environment Trust shared their new concerns, today.

JET calls on the Government to honor its commitments not to mine Cockpit Country

The Jamaica Environment Trust (JET) is dismayed that after the Prime Minister’s announcement in 2017 of a boundary for the Cockpit Country Protected Area (CCPA) and his promise to close the area to mining, the Mines and Geology Division (MGD) has now announced a new Special Exclusive Prospecting Licencewhich at several points falls within the boundary of the CCPA and includes land belonging to the Accompong Maroons(Figure 1 and 2).

When Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the announcement on November 21, 2017, he explicitly said that bauxite mining would not be allowed within the CCPA boundary. He also stated that if any existing Special Mining Leases (SMLs) and…

Coronavirus digest: Netherlands reintroduces COVID curbs | News | DW | 02.11.2021

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said on Tuesday evening that some COVID measures would be reintroduced as the Netherlands’ infection and hospitalization rates rise.

People will have to wear masks in public places such as shops, hairdressers, libraries, government buildings, train stations and hospitals.

In addition, they have also been told — where possible — to stay 1.5 meters (5 feet) away from others.

Opinion | The Glasgow Deforestation Pledge Isn’t Enough to Save Our Forests – The New York Times

Protecting tropical forests can secure seven to 10 times as much carbon through 2050 as replanting forests. Saving the trees can also ease the crisis of species extinction. And protecting these forests is crucial to maintaining the homes and ways of life of thousands of forest cultures — people who speak as many as a quarter of Earth’s languages.

B.C. promises to consult First Nations before pushing ahead with old-growth logging deferrals | CBC News

The government announced Tuesday it has asked each nation in B.C. about deferring the logging of big, ancient and rare old-growth trees across 26,000 square kilometres of forests — an area more than 220 times the City of Vancouver.

“We are committed to working in partnership with First Nations to make sure we get this right and to supporting workers and communities as we develop a sustainable approach to managing B.C.’s old-growth forests,” said Katrine Conroy, the minister of forests, lands, natural resource operations and rural development.

The consultations are the latest step in B.C.’s lengthy process of updating its strategy to protect the province’s largest, oldest trees — some more than 1,000 years old — and the rich ecosystems on which they thrive.
