Lost in the woods
Reprise

Sometimes I’m so afraid of the world
Every tiny little thing can hurt me
Sensitive and scared
Tired and frustrated
I need time
My body is resting
And my words keep silent
In an effervescent mind
Please, dont wake me up
I’m not ready wet.

Lord Shiva
Stories You Need To Know #8
Durvasa avatar
This avatar of Lord Shiva was born to Sage Atri and his wife, Anasuya. He was known for being short-tempered and commanded respect both from the humans as well as the Devas. In Hindu scriptures, Durvasa also known as Durvasas (Sanskrit: दुर्वासस्), was a legendaryRishi.
According to local tradition in modern Azamgarh, Durvasa’s Ashram, or hermitage (where disciples would study under him), was situated in the area, at the confluence of the Tons River and Majhuee rivers; 6 km (3.7 mi) north of the Phulpur Tehsil headquarters. His most famous temple, called Rishi Durvasa Temple, is located in the Aali Brahman Village, tehsil Hathin, district of Palwal, Haryana.
Rishi Durvasa, being short-tempered, was said to have both cursed and gifted boons to several notable deities and people in the Hindu Pantheon and Mythos.

#OTD 1944: D-Day: Operation Overlord Began 5,300 Ships & 11,000 Planes Crossed the English Channel – 💥Peace & Truth
For the Americans, Omaha was a near-suicide mission. First, a powerful undertow swept away lives and weapons; ten landing craft with twenty-six artillery guns and twenty-two of twenty-nine tanks were swamped. Then, they faced a maelstrom of bullets. Within ten minutes of landing every officer and sergeant of the 116th Regiment was dead or wounded. Yet, by 10:00 a.m., as Americans received the first news of D-Day, 300 men had struggled through mortar fire, across the body and equipment strewn beach, and up a bluff to attack the German defenses. By nightfall, the Allies had a toehold on the continent, yet, on “Bloody Omaha” alone, 3,000 Americans lay dead.

Monkeypox: Why I Haven’t Written about It
Frankly, while it’s in the news, a snippet from a recent WHO report is worth noting:
The sudden and unexpected appearance of monkeypox simultaneously in several non-endemic countries suggests that there might have been undetected transmission for some unknown duration of time followed by recent amplifier events.
World Health Organization
Monkeypox was first identified in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 1970. As a lesser cousin of the more serious smallpox disease, it didn’t receive the attention that smallpox did. There was no push to eradicate it as was done with smallpox, and there is no rapid test to determine whether someone has Monkeypox. It simply hasn’t been studied.
For that reason, we really don’t know how many people in Europe or the Americas have had this disease. Covid-era tests for sexually-transmitted diseases are starting to flag this virus, but most people never get those tests. Could other people…

Jolly Monday … With BACON!
Good Monday morn, my friends. The first Monday in June. My darling daughter reminded me this past weekend that we are almost half the way back to Christmas. I told her to shut up. Writing Process: 6th Draft in Final Edit, Beta Readers Needed!!
Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better
At last! I’ve just finished Draft 5, and am now in final edit of the substantially revised Draft #6, which is rather different, even, from the 5th draft. Now in need of Beta Readers, please! In addition to a few idea changes, this draft is 237 pages, rather than the 288 of draft 5. (why is the editor so snaggy today?!)
So, I continue to work on detail edits of draft #6 of Project Do Better’s manifesto, which should not be many as I was careful, but one always misses something, so do let me know of any and everything you see or think should be changed -just let me know if you want to read this 6th Draft and I will post it!
I look forward to hearing your opinions, Thoughtful Readers.
We can really Do Better.
-Shira

Boris Johnson survives no-confidence vote to remain U.K. prime minister – The Washington Post
Surviving a no-confidence vote under the current rules insulates Johnson from additional party challenges for a year. But those rules can be changed.
Looming over Monday’s vote was the recollection that Johnson’s predecessor, Theresa May, beat a no-confidence challenge over her failed Brexit deal in 2018, only to be forced to resign the next year. When May faced her vote, 37 percent of her lawmakers voted against her; Johnson did worse, with 41 percent of his lawmakers voting against him.
In opinion surveys, Johnson’s polling numbers are in the dumpster after months of drip-drip revelations about how he allowed his staff to turn his office and residence of 10 Downing Street into an ersatz frat house during the darkest days of the pandemic — with “BYOB” party invites, karaoke singing, fisticuffs and vomiting.
Johnson was booed by some when he attended a jubilee service on Friday at St. Paul’s Cathedral.
