A night or so ago, my friend Jerry suggested this song.  I thought I had played it here a few times, but turns out I only played it once, back in 2019.  So, here is tonight’s redux and I promise to try to come up with something I haven’t played before by the end of the week!

Novel Writing Process, and Why I Hate & Love Character Creation

I love getting to know my characters, figuring out how they think, why they would do certain things, or not, and getting to know who they are and how they became that person.  But it’s a dead space in the word count listing!!

For a person who likes to check items off of the daily To Do list, it is a process that is frustratingly unchartable.  Yet, it remains a rewarding process, seeing what incidents in the life of your person led to decisions, thought patterns, and habits.  A painstaking process, to be sure, as I get to know how my protagonist, Isaias, will react to plot events, and thus create the story.

Whereas, on August 20, 1619, the first 20 enslaved Africans were brought to what is now Fort Monroe, then Point Comfort, in Hampton, Virginia against their will;

Whereas the House of Representatives recognizes August 20, 2021, as Slavery Remembrance Day and commemorates the lives of all enslaved people while also condemning the act and perpetuation of slavery in the United States of America and across the world;
