Tennessee (GOP) State Representative and Former Chief of Staff Charged with Bribery and Kickback Conspiracy | OPA | Department of Justice

The indictment alleges that the conspirators told members of the Tennessee General Assembly that Phoenix Solutions was run by an individual named “Matthew Phoenix,” an experienced political consultant who had previously worked for a Washington, D.C.-based consulting firm. In fact, Cothren operated Phoenix Solutions, and Casada, Cothren, and the other conspirator allegedly knew that “Matthew Phoenix” was a fictitious person and secretly profited from the fraudulent venture. Casada, Cothren, and the other conspirator allegedly concealed their involvement in Phoenix Solutions by submitting sham invoices to the State of Tennessee in the names of political consulting companies owned by Casada and the other conspirator, for the purpose of secretly funneling money from the State to Phoenix Solutions through the bank accounts of these companies. In 2020, these companies and Phoenix Solutions allegedly received approximately $51,947 from the State in payments associated with the mailer program.  Source: Tennessee State Representative and Former Chief of Staff Charged with Bribery and Kickback Conspiracy | OPA | Department of Justice

HVCC reinstates COVID vaccination mandate for fall semester – The Daily Gazette

Hudson Valley Community College changed course Monday, and said students attending in-person for the fall semester will need to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

HVCC on July 13 decided to strongly recommend — but not mandate — student vaccination. It cited multiple factors for that  decision:

  • Concerns expressed by students and their parents;
  • The fact that college faculty and staff, campus visitors and high school students attending class on-site do not need to vaccinate;
  • The lack of dormitories on campus;
  • The fact that most government entities, businesses and nonprofits don’t mandate vaccination.
  • The desire not to create a potential barrier to higher education with the vaccine mandate.

But the college has decided instead to follow the vaccination policy of the State University of New York system, of which it is part: Every fall semester student who hasn’t already submitted proof of vaccination must do so, or apply for an exemption, said HVCC President Roger Ramsammy.

Hydrogen peroxide kills 99.99% of SARS-CoV-2 on fabrics in 30 seconds

Interestingly, 3% hydrogen peroxide was found to eliminate 99.9% of SARS-CoV-2 in all types of tested fabrics within 30 seconds. Most importantly, this concentration of hydrogen peroxide is safe.

Hydrogen peroxide can be applied as a disinfectant for fabric materials, such as clothes and face masks. It can also be used to disinfect shared equipment that cannot be washed, such as cloth furniture and soft toys in nurseries.

The application of hydrogen peroxide on fabrics is expected to positively reduce SARS-CoV-2 transmission, as previous studies have reported that this virus can survive on cotton and polyester fabrics for less than a day, which is enough time for significant viral spread in public places.
