Coming–Vinda

Coisas da SIL

Quero te encontrar
Como água
Quando chega no sertão
E anima o coração .

Que festa
Acenda a chama
Daquele que confia
E espera.

Que alegra
E acalma
Enquanto dura
Sua chegada.

Que brota além
Do esperado
Do desejado
Do amado.

Que radia
Tira sorrisos
Tira choro
Anima a sina.

Que dá ânimo
Fervor, calor e coragem
Só com a sua estiagem.

Que não quer a sua ida
Que não pensa em partida
Que  seja única a sua vinda.

Coming

I want to find you
Like water
When you arrive in the wilderness
And cheers the heart.

What a party
light the flame
of the one who trusts
And wait.

that rejoices
and calm down
while it lasts
Your arrival.

that springs beyond
of the expected
of the desired
of the beloved.

that radiates
take smiles
Take away cry
Animate the fate.

that gives spirit
Fervor…

Can She Really Be So Stupid???

Liz Truss, the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom who replaced bumbling Boris Johnson, has proven in a relatively short time that she is a damned fool.  She is leading the UK down a path to economic disaster and not only that, but she wants all other western nations to follow her down that pathway to nowhere.  In a recent interview, echoing Donald Trump, she said

“We do have to take difficult decisions to get our economy right. We have to look at our tax rates. So corporation tax needs to be competitive with other countries so that we can attract that investment.”

And so, for the sake of Ms. Truss, the good citizens of the United Kingdom, and as a reminder to the people of the United States, I am reprising a portion of my 2017 post here, explaining why and…

Idaho White Supremacist Who Assaulted a Black Man Pleads Guilty to Hate Crime and False Statement Charge | OPA | Department of Justice

In his plea agreement, Stanley admitted that, at the time of the assault, he was a member of a white supremacist group. On Dec. 8, 2018, Stanley entered a bar in Lynnwood, Washington, with others, including members of two related white supremacist groups. Stanley wore clothing and patches indicating his group membership and repeatedly gave “Nazi salutes” inside the bar. While at the bar, Stanley and others assaulted T.S, a Black man who was serving as the disc jockey at the bar. Stanley believed that T.S. was being disrespectful to the members of the white supremacist groups after T.S. objected to group members manipulating his DJ equipment without his permission. Stanley and others punched, kicked, and stomped on T.S., and called T.S. racial slurs. As a result of the assault, T.S. suffered bodily injuries. Two bystanders attempted to intervene to help T.S. and stop the assault. Both bystanders were assaulted by members of the white supremacist groups, and both sustained injuries.

In addition to the hate crime charge, Stanley pleaded guilty to making false statements to FBI agents about the circumstances surrounding the assault. Specifically, Stanley falsely claimed to the agents that he was not even present in the state of Washington during the weekend of the assault. This statement was false, in that Stanley knew he had traveled to Washington to attend a gathering of white supremacists, and while he was there, he participated in the assault of T.S. at the Lynwood bar. Stanley made this false statement to the FBI because he wanted to cover up his involvement in the assault of T.S.

Stanley will be sentenced on Jan. 6, 2023. The hate crime charge carries a maximum penalty of ten years in prison. The false statement charge carries a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison.

Covid-19: End of pandemic not yet in sight, says Ian Young – BBC News

Prof Young welcomed the assessment but cautioned the WHO’s statement must be read in full.

“They are saying they can see a potential end in sight, but that there is still some way to go,” he said.

“Older people and those in vulnerable health groups are still at risk and people will continue to die from Covid.”

The WHO continues to urge countries to maintain vigilance and likened the pandemic to a marathon race.

I KNOW I SHOULD TAKE TIME TO BE…

NANMYKEL.COM

…. a little friendlier,  but I feel time’s winged chariot and I want to say as much as is there…here.

When I first began blogging I saw that new sites said things like “Welcome, pull up a chair and visit.  So glad you stopped by.  I’m Nan, and I’ll answer every comment.  Please make yourself at home.”  But no, I didn’t have time for cordiality.  Well, I saw my doctor earlier today and he said he would visit my blog, and he’ll see my limited appeal.  I think I’ve been conning him….

No prob.  Just wishing I was better organized, but a little late for that, eh what?  One of my problems is not having enough friends to sit and chew the fat with, “in reality.”

If tugging on your coattails and begging you to pay attention to me doesn’t work, I’ll just have to try and re-script my personality…
