Logic and Languages Help Our Future, on Day 30/67

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

My thoughts on Day 30/67, 5 Month GED, Similar Triangle Ratios, and Adulting as lifelong language learning learners, in week 8/18, have been on applying logic to similar languages and contexts (and on how reading anything interesting transfers to reading other materials, like voter registration and ballot text…) in ways that help connect ideas, as a mind-map does:

Studying different languages, and applying those other ways of thinking in the context of a different grammatical system, but similar context of needing to communicate ideas, are also crucial in the voting process, and

♫ Fire and Rain ♫ (Redux)

Filosofa's Word

I last played this one a couple of years ago, but tonight I’m just in the mood for some James Taylor … hope you are too!

I love James Taylor’s voice … it is sensual, somehow.  It is … as if he is singing to me and only me.  I did not know, until doing a brief bit of research for this music post, that he had been heavily into drugs.  Silly me, eh … what else should I have expected?  Sigh.

Taylor wrote this in 1968 at three different times. He started it in London, where he auditioned for The Beatles’ Apple Records. He later worked on it in a Manhattan Hospital, and finished it while in drug rehab at The Austin Riggs Center in Massachusetts. In a 1972 Rolling Stone interview, Taylor explained: “The first verse is about my reactions to the death of a friend (that would…

La canción del domingo – A Song for Sunday — JaZzArt en València

(The Beatles en/in 1965. Photo: Billboard, May 1965) Los que ya me conocen saben que soy fanático, venga, pero super fanático de The Beatles, y os digo que sus canciones nunca se me agotan, nunca se me hacen viejas y siempre me fascinan de muchas maneras. महात्मा / Mahatma (Saint)

Kaushal Kishore

हर व्यक्ति में एक ‘महात्मा’
छुपा होता है,
या तो उस चमक को पहचानते नहीं
या उसे आप कुंद कर देते हैं,
जो आपको “आप” बनाती है…

🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀

There is a “Mahatma”
hidden in every person,
you either don’t recognise
or just blunt the spark
that makes you “you”…

P.S.On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, let us recognise and bring it forward…

Universities urged to go ‘beyond words’ and enrol refugees

Before fleeing Afghanistan as a refugee, Bilal Seddiqqi was in his final year of medicine, but now he is struggling to have his un-finished credentials recognised in order to continue his higher education in his new home, the United States.

“I was just months away from finishing my studies when the Taliban overran Kabul and I had to flee because of threats posed to our family due to affiliation with the government and civil society,” the young Afghan told University World News via phone from California.

Seddiqqi’s situation is shared by thousands of refugees from all over the world who are struggling with the uphill task of pursuing higher education in host countries, particularly in the West. Source: Universities urged to go ‘beyond words’ and enrol refugees

New infectious threats are coming. The U.S. probably won’t contain them. | The Japan Times

…“In people’s minds, perhaps, is the idea that this COVID thing was such a freak of nature, was a once-in-a-century crisis, and we’re good for the next 99 years,” said Jennifer Nuzzo, director of the Pandemic Center at Brown University School of Public Health.

“This is the new normal,” she added. “It’s like the levees are built for the one-in-a-100-years crisis, but then the floods keep happening every three years.” …
