Will a forest in Borneo be gutted for ‘green’ energy? – Stigmatis News

NORTH KALIMANTAN, Indonesia — Indonesia is trying to kick its coal habit, which currently powers nearly half of the country. As part of this energy transition, the Southeast Asian nation is turning to biomass energy, generated mainly from wood chips produced by fast-growing tree plantations. These wood chips are burned alongside coal as a renewable alternative. While the government and biomass companies have downplayed suggestions rainforests will be cleared for new plantations, a tip from North Kalimantan led Mongabay to investigate these claims.

The Big “I” or a Little “One”? | From Behind the Pen

After reading an article last week that listed 10 signs of character traits about people who are not actually good people according to psychology, I noticed a stark pattern among people I’ve recognized as narcissistic and egomaniacs. First, let me just say that this isn’t about self-care, self-awareness, or self-help. Nope, this is all about the Big “I” and how you are in love with yourself.

Oh, the big I
fragmented, manipulative, self-centered,
not at peace with oneself or in one’s heart,
shutting others out to live for I-self
your best friends are Me, Myself, and I
winding up as a pathetic hermit, but why?

According to geediting.com here are some markers that you can clearly identify these individuals by:

  1. Lack of empathy
  2. They’re always playing the victim
  3. They’re manipulative
  4. Constant criticism
  5. They never apologize
  6. They’re never happy for others
  7. They break promises regularly
  8. They’re overly charming
  9. They never respect boundaries
  10. They take more than they give

When we look inward to identify the type of person we are and the person we want to be, different variables define that balance of give and take. Do we uplift others or uplift ourselves by depleting and draining the life and energy of others? Are we empathetic, or pathetic? I, is a lonely alphabet and one is a lonely number. Three Dog Night sings about “One” so poignantly. There’s nothing big about that little “i”.

First Amendment Rights for Everyone Except Abortion Supporters

Floridians have the option to protect abortion during this election by voting “yes” on Amendment 4, which reads, “No law shall prohibit, penalize, delay or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient’s health, as determined by the patient’s healthcare provider.” But apparently, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis doesn’t want Floridians to hear arguments in favor of the measure.

October 21, 2024 – by Heather Cox Richardson

On Saturday, September 7, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump predicted that his plan to deport 15 to 20 million people currently living in the United States would be “bloody.” He also promised to prosecute his political opponents, including, he wrote, lawyers, political operatives, donors, illegal voters, and election officials.
