The United States will always be the United States of America Biden or Trump both men have their cabinets unlike our country full of shonky poets hence we despise them The American dream for those who want to dream where there’s no dubious emperor plotting to be a dictator where anyone could be crown you once believed faultless is national pride “sisters, let's rally our cry” we should love our country like the air in our lungs you’re an immigrant you don’t have an official residence without a choice, you had to change hospital you don’t have insurance So what are you looking for in this American election? games of the rich and powerful hungry you worry about the next meal it’s a dog eat dog world…

Indigenous community in Peru losing forests to timber, drug, land trafficking

  • The Indigenous community of Santa Rosillo de Yanayacu, located in northern Peru, has been facing illegal timber, drug and land trafficking for the past several years.
  • Satellite data and imagery suggest deforestation associated with these incursions has increased in 2022.
  • The community lacks a communal land title to their territorial forests; experts say this is opening the door to setters who are using threats to bar regional authorities from intervening.
  • Santa Rosillo de Yanayacu is one of a number of Indigenous communities in the region contending with deforestation from outsiders.

The Paris agreement reminds us that 2030 is the critical year  by which global CO2 emissions must have been reduced by 45 percent to avoid the irreversible consequences of climate change.

Earlier this year the United Nations stated that emissions need to have peaked by 2025, be reduced by 43 percent by 2030, and be at net zero by 2050.

Commitments made by countries of Mother Earth so far will reduce emissions by only 7 percent from 2019 levels by 2030.  (See Loss and Damage by Tina Gerhardt, the Nation, current edition. )

You Probably Don’t Need an RSV Test, Doctors Say (Me: read beyond the careless headline, please)

Why are RSV cases rising among adults?

RSV isn’t new, even among adults. But there are a few reasons more cases are cropping up now.

“Over the past two-plus years, all the things we did to protect ourselves from COVID protected us from other respiratory infections, too,” says Georges Benjamin, M.D., executive director of the American Public Health Association.

Think: Masking, hand washing and staying away from others when you’re sick.

Now, as COVID-19 measures are relaxed, you’re spending more time in public around others, it’s cold and flu season, and the colder months keep you indoors, he says. “So we transmit these viruses to one another more.”

RSV is also just being identified more frequently, Dr. Dobrzynski said. In hospitals, “triple testing” for COVID-19, the flu and RSV is becoming more common.

Anyone can get RSV, but two major adult groups are most at risk for the infection: people age 65 and older and individuals with chronic illnesses or who are immunocompromised.

Every year, 60,000 to 120,000 older people are hospitalized for RSV in the U.S., and 6,000 to 10,000 die from the infection, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
