Caribbean Climate-Smart Accelerator nominates regional initiatives for Earthshot Prize

I heard from Island Innovation, that dynamic sustainable development and communications network that focuses on the global island community, that the Caribbean Climate-Smart Accelerator has nominated several initiatives for the US$1.2 million Earthshot Prize.

The Caribbean island projects are: Offgrid EV Charging, Solarponix, and Trash to Treasure (SMCL) from Trinidad and Tobago; GrenadaGrows from Grenada; Eco Skywater from Barbados; Petros-Aquaculture from Aruba; Partannafrom the Bahamas; Carrefour from Haiti; EcoCarib Greentechnologie from Saint Lucia.

Last but by no means least! Kee Farms from Jamaica is a nominee; it describes itself as “a regenerative ocean farm that invests in crops and sea stock such as seaweed and mollusks.” I am keeping my fingers crossed for them.

The Earthshot Prize has one winner for each of five categories: Protect and Restore Nature; Clean Our Air; Revive Our Oceans…

India Embraces Digital Payments Over Cash, Even for a 10-Cent Chai – The New York Times

At its heart has been a robust campaign to deliver every citizen a unique identification number, called the Aadhaar. The initiative, begun in 2009 under Mr. Modi’s predecessor, Manmohan Singh, was pushed forward by Mr. Modi after overcoming years of legal challenges over privacy concerns.

The government says about 99 percent of adults now have a biometric identification number, with more than 1.3 billion IDs issued in all.
