Do NOT Read This Book At Bedtime!

Filosofa's Word

I recently started reading a new book,“A Fever in the Heartland: The Ku Klux Klan’s Plot to Take Over America, and the Woman Who Stopped Them” by Timothy Egan.  The opening pages of this book chilled me, not only for what happened 100 years ago, but the parallels to today that even the blindest of people cannot fail to notice.  Here’s just one brief excerpt that exemplifies the connection between the Ku Klux Klan in 1923 and the maga movement in 2023 …

“No one can deny that the United States is a white Protestant country,” wrote the Fiery Cross, the weekly newspaper of the Indiana Klan.  Stephenson’s press organ was filled with scare stories of those seeking to find a home in a new land.  “We receive at our ports of immigration an ignorant and disreputable omnium-gatherum of scorbutic and vicious spawn, people who possess neither blood nor…

Thread of life…by Magic Mixture – Magic Mixture

We only have one life

At least at this moment, on this plane

What moves us anyway?

If we take nothing from here

Before, we left…

Loves, friendships, joys?

Or conflicts, lack of love and pain?

For never thinking about it

Eternal in this flesh we judge ourselves

Disconnected from our thread of life

Staggering and unbelieving we wander

If in an atom they formed us

In thousandths of here we will leave

Every day we do better

Let’s live safe that we will leave

A clean and fruitful road

For those who will come after us…

ore de drum

Turcia, 2022

Proposal to export 100,000 crop-raiding macaques sparks outcry in Sri Lanka

“The minister says the animals will be exported for some Chinese zoos. However, there are only a few zoos there with the ability to accommodate this many numbers of monkeys. This justly fuels our fear that this is not the real purpose and the macaques may be used for medical research,” says Panchali Panapitiya of the animal rights NGO Rally for Animal Rights and Environment.  “We know that monkey meat is  considered a delicacy in some parts of China. Sri Lankan monkeys may even end up on their plates, Panapitiya tells Mongabay. However, it is now illegal serve monkey brain in China and violations can result in imprisonment extending up to 10 years.

Take a Look…Incredibly valuable

NANMYKEL.COM

Surely it’s the beginning of my end!  Earlier this month I attended two funerals and a panel discussion sponsored by youth at Ohio University, and signed up for info via Drake Chamberlin, and quit my technical jockeying on my nascent transgender novel.  And I’m so envious of Ned Hanson for talking about taking a month away from his widespread blog.  And I still don’t have the hang of reblogging if authors don’t offer the option…

Anyhow, what I have thanks to Drake Chamberlin is a video packed full of data about what corporations own, including media.  It’s a priceless fact library and I’d like someone else to pick up and run with it, but it would be a waste for me to do it, since my likes probably average 4. (Make that 3).

I thought about just sending the video to a couple of sites I follow, but have already…
