Check your medicine cabinet and you’ll likely find medications that are out of date or you no longer take. You shouldn’t flush them down the toilet because the medication ends up in rivers, affecting aquatic life.

Up to now, it’s been inconvenient to get rid of them.

Safeway/Albertsons has solved that problem. You can dump bottles of pills or liquids, prescriptions or over the counter meds, into their gray bins. You might want to mark out your personal information with a permanent marker first.

Note that Schedule I drugs are not accepted. But opioids (which you might have gotten after surgery) are Schedule II. In the past, you might have had to take those to the police department.
