I last played this one in 2019, so it’s due for a redux, I think!  The video I used then was not viewable in the UK or Canada, as I recall, so I’ve found a different one that I hope will play everywhere!  Please let me know if it doesn’t!


Released as a single in 1978, this song was a comeback of sorts for Johnny Mathis, as it was his first chart-topping hit in the US since 1957’s Chances Are.  Mathis teamed up with Deniece Williams for this song, written by Nat Kipner and John Vallins.

Kipner & Vallins’ demo of the ballad first caught the attention of UK label Polydor Records, and they had one of their signees, an English Pop duo, record a version of the song. More than 3,000 Starbucks workers strike over Pride decorations, contract talks – UPI.com

Thousands of Starbucks workers launched a strike Friday after saying the company has prevented dozens of stores from putting up decorations in observation of LGBTQ Pride Month.

Starbucks Workers United, the union representing the workers, said more than 3,000 workers at over 150 stores will strike demanding “that Starbucks negotiate a fair contract with union stores and stop their illegal union-busting campaign, which has significantly impacted Starbucks’ LGBTQIA+ workforce.”

Poznat pod imenom trakasto drvo, ali i kao blesavo voće ili zeleni dinosaur, australijski kalikantus (Idiospermum australiense) biljna je vrsta koja se razvila prije oko sto dvadeset miliona godina i proširila se samo u tropskim šumama sjevernog Kvinslenda. Otkrio ju je 1902. godine njemački botaničar Ludvig Dils, u blizini Kerna, i nazvao je Calycanthus australiensis. Njena osobenost je oblik klice. Dok klice današnjih biljaka imaju jedan listić (monokotiledone) ili dva (dikotiledone), klice koje je prikupio Dils imale su od tri do pet listića. Čak su i spiralne latice cvjetova ukazivale na primitivni razvoj ove biljke.

Kada se Dils vratio na mjesto svog otkrića, drveće je već bilo posječeno da bi se dobio prostor za plantažu šećerne trske. Australijskom kalikantusu gubi se svaki trag do 1971. godine kada je njegovo sjeme pronađeno u probavnom traktu uginulih životinja.
