Kamala Harris: supreme court rulings portend ‘attack’ on ‘hard-fought freedoms’ | Kamala Harris | The Guardian

“Fundamental issues are at stake,” Harris said, as she called on Americans to vote – including in the 2024 presidential race – for political candidates who would work to shield rights rather than rescind them… Source: Kamala Harris: supreme court rulings portend ‘attack’ on ‘hard-fought freedoms’ | Kamala Harris | The Guardian

Sparkle…by Magic Mixture – Magic Mixture

There are days when I need

I need a flash

from a spark

To turn on my light

I need someone to look at me

Tell me … that everything is alright

Or that one day it will be …

On other days, I shine

exuberant of hope

Renewed in the sparks of faith

Full believer …

That the future is welcoming

that we are able to proceed

Survive and cross the limits

Happy we are able

To resist and exist …

I think it’s around

Being enlightened, illuminating

Fulfilling the trajectory

Walking … ⁇ 車

Review: James Scott Bell’s The Art of War for Writers: Fiction Writing Strategies, Tactics, and Exercises

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

The first time I borrowed this book, I didn’t have time to go through it all, so I am needing to borrow it again, but the ILL system has been down in the county library.  Before continuing with the review, by the way, here is our weekly reminder to share freely about the Statutes of Limitations, especially those related to consumer debt, in your state, District, or territory, please.

This has been a very helpful book, as soon as the inter library loan system is back up, the librarians promise me that I shall have a copy of it again.  But a lot of his exercises work better for the so called ‘pantser’ set than for outliners or detailed planners, like myself, it seems.  This is probably already evident from my ongoing writing process series on Wednesdays.

I keep finding bits of paper with…

♫ Good Morning Starshine ♫ (Redux)

Filosofa's Word

Yesterday when I played Aquarius/Let the Sun Shine In, Clive commented that while the song was okay, his preference for a song from a musical is this one by Oliver.  I didn’t recall having played it before, so I went in search of background trivia and found very little.  Then I decided to search my archives … just in case … and found that I DID play it back in 2019!  Makes my life a bit easier to be able to redux!  This one’s for you, Clive!

This was the theme song to the popular, controversial play Hair, and it single-handedly propelled the singer, whose legal name was William Oliver Swofford, into superstardom that year. Unfortunately, he was a flash in the pan, although he received enthusiastic audiences for his live performances throughout the 1970s. This song and Jean, which I played a few months ago, are the…

Durch’s wilde Feldistan … Through wild Markistan

Stella, oh, Stella

… As you may know by now, I have two new walking buddies, especially one neighbour, with whom I have been on several walks already. She is very active and it seems that she never tires. A local resident had told her that there was a circle walk near our village, and we wanted to find and test it.

A onda bolsonarista ainda existe! Muitos extremistas vivem alimentando anseios do retorno de Bolsonaro, ou que […]

With this ending, the extreme right is defeated, leaving the Brazilian right to reflect on the validity of the Bolsonaro person. Anyway, from now on we will have a retired and useless doll from the Ipiranga gas station. Long live Brazilian democracy!

Turning 19 in Tanzania!

Saania's diary - reflections, learnings, sparkles

I celebrated my 19th birthday (28th of June) in Zanzibar, Tanzania, a staggeringly beautiful city populated by a warm Swahili culture.

Most of the 3 days were spent in the serene and therapeutic resort – Sea Cliff. We went kayaking, saw horses in the beach, played Top Golf, and made some adorable sea creature friends – sea cucumbers, urchins, and baby crabs to name a few :).

Horsies in the beach 🐎

Fun Fact: Zanzibar literally translates to “Land of the Blacks”. When we were at the beach during low tide evenings, we always saw the most compassionate villagers who helped us find sea animals and told us interesting facts about them. It is from them I learnt that sea urchins never mean to harm us. They are our friends. It is only when a person accidentally steps on one when their sting stings hard!

Our 2 lovely friends who…

🥳 Happy Birthday to My July Revelers

From Behind the Pen

Well, today, it’s official. I begin celebrating on this first day like I lost my mind. Today is a blessed anniversary that for 65 years, I am truly grateful for. But, throughout this entire month, I am sending a shoutout to all of my July-born party people who know how to celebrate with conviction and don’t care who knows it. So I salute you my wild and crazy July sisters and brothers. Cheers to all of you Moon children, Cancerians, and Leos too.

In the midst of summer, under a clear blue sky
from cookouts to seascapes, with a slice of apple pie
as celebrations commence, not needing a reason why
because you party people are born in the month of July.

With celebratory love, Kym

HAPPYBIRTHDAY

to you, and many more!
