Israel judicial reform: The stakes of parliament vote to limit Supreme Court power – Vox

…Many Israelis, the hundreds of thousands involved in the protest movement, are terrified of what Netanyahu would do with such unlimited power. While the end of the reasonableness standard does not mark the end of Israeli democracy on its own, they fear it could mark the beginning of the end. Hence why so many are willing to go to extremes — like more than 1,000 air force reservists boycotting military service — to demonstrate their disapproval.Source: Israel judicial reform: The stakes of parliament vote to limit Supreme Court power – Vox

Hiltzik: Liberalizing child labor laws will kill children – Los Angeles Times

…What may be most horrifying about these accidents is that the work the children were doing is illegal under the laws of both states. But they happened amid a nationwide push by manufacturer and restaurant lobbies to liberalize child labor laws in those states and elsewhere. ♫ Say You, Say Me ♫

Filosofa's Word

Yesterday, after I played “Easy Lover” by Phil Collins and Philip Bailey of Earth, Wind, and Fire (EW&F), a number of people commented that while the song was okay, they preferred the music of EW&F.  So, I quickly decided that tonight I would play my all-time favourite EW&F song, “September”!  But alas … a quick look at the archives tells me that I just played that back in January, so … I have to settle for playing my second favourite by the group, “After the Love Has Gone”.  But wait!!!  I just played that one back in February!!!  Why don’t I remember these things???  And so … it’ll have to be Lionel Richie’s “Say You, Say Me”, right?

Lionel Richie … ahhh … need I say more?

This song was both written and recorded by Lionel Richie for the film White Nights in 1985.

मूर्ख / Goof

Kaushal Kishore

मैं देख रहा था ख़ुशी खुशी
एक पुराना एल्बम
तभी मेरी नज़र पड़ गई
आईने पर,
और उस मूर्ख ने बता दी मुझे
मेरी असली हैसियत और उम्र…

I was happily looking at
an old album,
when my eyes
fell on the mirror,
and that goof told me
my real status and age…

Creativity and Experimentation to innovate

Strategic Growth Insights: Unleashing Your Potential

I have seen this many times in my consulting career: companies and organizations that prefer sticking to the old procedures, products, customers, and goals just because “they have worked in the past“.

Then, they – obviously, I would say – struggle with growth, progress, and innovation. Some even risk getting out of business.

💡 Seeking innovation?

To ensure that your organization, business, or team does not miss the opportunity to embrace innovation, you should encourage a culture of creativity and experimentation as a powerful catalyst for organizational growth and success. Cultivate a stimulating environment where employees feel encouraged to express their creativity freely, where new ideas are welcomed with open arms, and where experimentation is not only tolerated but actively encouraged. Even by giving your employees a lot of idle time where they can do nothing but think or research. By providing a safe space to share their…

California’s cage-free egg and bacon law is under threat from (National) Republicans – Vox

The EATS Act, short for Ending Agricultural Trade Suppression, was introduced last month by Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) with a companion bill in the House from Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA), and would prohibit state and local governments from setting standards for how agricultural products imported from other states are produced. The bill’s language is not only sweeping, but vague, and some of its potential effects are unclear.  Source: California’s cage-free egg and bacon law is under threat from Republicans – Vox

Putin signs law banning gender changes in Russia — Meduza (Me: Why except to just be cruel and dogmatic rightist?)

Vladimir Putin has signed a bill into law that bans gender changes in Russia.

In addition to prohibiting gender marker changes in legal documents and gender-affirming medical procedures, the new legislation makes it illegal for people who have legally changed their gender to adopt children. The law also allows for the annulment of marriages in which one spouse changes their gender marker.
