DeSantis Rejection of Federal Money for Energy Programs Hurts Floridians

Governor DeSantis’ refusal of these funds is concerning, as they could strengthen Florida’s power grids and mitigate the risks of future disasters. It is contradictory for him to accept federal funds for rebuilding efforts after hurricanes but reject money for addressing the climate-related challenges facing the state.

Despite Florida’s vulnerability to climate damage and the needs of its residents, Governor DeSantis appears to prioritize political considerations over the well-being of Floridians. Accepting these funds would not be accepting “federal money,” but rather an opportunity to address the pressing issues and potential disasters that the state is facing.
