Aspiration – Kaushal Kishore

❤️🧡💚💙💜🤎

Cultivating with tenderness, people sow,

A plethora of blooms, rare beauty aglow…

My aspiration is to plant a seed with love,

Where only hearts bloom, like stars above…

Retro Music 104 | beetleypete

When she died at the age of 27 in 1970, I already knew of Janis Joplin from her time as the lead singer of Big Brother and The Holding Company. Her raucous voice was ideally suited to Blues and Rock, and her pop-star lifestyle of alcohol and drugs was equally as famous as her vocal talent. Then her record company posthumously released the album ‘Pearl’ in 1971, and for the first time I bought one of her records.

Many of her songs were hits in the UK as well as in America, but I have chosen a track from ‘Pearl’ that has always been my favourite of hers.
It was written by Bobby Womack.

Hard to believe she has been dead for over 53 years.

Oakland school district sued over event held for minority students – AsAmNews

A day meant to build community and a safe space for minority students has prompted a lawsuit from the conservative group Judicial Watch which has labeled the event “racially segregated.”

The group filed the suit to demand that records from the “playdate” at the Oakland Unified School District in California be turned over.

The event held at Chabot Elementary School was entitled “Playdate Social for Black, Brown & API Families.”

The word “diversity” and efforts to make minorities feel welcomed have been weaponized by conservatives building on the momentum of a supreme court decision this summer that outlawed the use of race in college admissions.

The Utah senate has passed a bill that would prevent schools from organizing programs intended to help students of color. The state of Florida banned diversity, equity and inclusion programs in colleges. Texas new law banning DEI went into effect at the beginning of the year.
