Ecuador, Colombia and the Guiana Shield join the planning of sustainable land use – Stigmatis News

  • Mongabay is publishing a new edition of the book, “A Perfect Storm in the Amazon,” in short installments and in three languages: Spanish, English and Portuguese.
  • This section shows how land use planning in Ecuador loses value if it is not accompanied by programs that motivate landowners to reform their business models and reward forest communities.
  • Likewise, in countries like Colombia the challenge is not access to information or technical capacity, but rather the weak presence of the State in various areas of the country that live without law. Finally, although Suriname, Guyana and Venezuela were late in planning the development of their forested areas, the deforestation factors linked to agriculture and infrastructure are quite low.
  • Despite this, the threats facing these countries include new offshore oil and gas reserves, as well as small and medium-scale gold mining.

a letter with regards to silence – Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm

a letter with regards to silence

along the dotted line
the face of someone who had passed on
sinking soundly into a nephrite slumber

he left behind
his chaotic greyness
dwelled in his throat
unswallowed, not spit out

a moment of opulent nakedness
filtered, piled up
just beyond meaning

using someone else’s voice
to have lived just enough
within the boundary of inaccessible pages

he spoke to me about letting go
about the metaphysical text
and all the mind boggling books
the headaches
in place of them is a letter with regards to silence

this trip is not reserved for
the fear of the bright light
through dry and crack knuckles

Happy Birthday, Leap Day Sweetie Pies! 🥳💚🎂 You Deserve This Celebration! | From Behind the Pen

So, you may not feel very celebrated until every four years eh? Well look, this year you don’t have to celebrate on February 28 or March 1. By the way, who on earth screwed up the calendar with an extra day in February only showing up on the calendar every four years? I’m sure it wasn’t someone who was born on February 29 who did this either!

The only day left off the calendar
then added every four years
the reason will never make sense to me
such omission brings me to tears

but on this date, you celebrate
your official birthday on Leap Day
and whether or not anyone recognizes your value
you are honored in every special, FANtabulous way.

So, if you’re born on the 29th of February or know someone born on February 29th, leave your well wishes in the comment section. Oh, and Cindy Georgakas, be sure to sign your name on the comment line, in celebration of your day my dear! 😜

The Supreme Court Strikes Again! | Filosofa’s Word

Yesterday, the Supreme Court announced that they will, in fact, hear Trump’s claim of “presidential immunity” that was struck down unanimously by the U.S. Court of Appeals.  The Supreme Court did not have to hear the case at all, but could easily have let the unanimous, bipartisan ruling of the Appeals Court stand.  But, after deliberating for three weeks, they decided to hear the case and take their sweet time about it, only scheduled to hear the arguments in late April, meaning a ruling might not come until June and Trump’s trial for his crimes related to the attempted coup on January 6th might not happen until close to election day, or even after … or never…
