SANTIAGO GALICIA ROJON SERRALLONGA

Open Thread | Back to Body Autonomy for Women and Abortion | 3CHICSPOLITICO

The forced birth crowd has issues.
Issue being that access to abortion is popular. People know that they believe women should have access to abortion.
That’s why they don’t want it on the ballot. Because, everywhere it has been put on the ballot, abortion rights have been validated and preserved.
They also see that this issue isn’t going away. Women have not gone into the night with sheepish acceptance of their loss of body autonomy.

They know that Americans don’t approve of abortion BANS, so they have tried to pretend that what they want isn’t an abortion BAN. They are trying to change the language.
And, when people on our side say that they want a NATIONAL ABORTION BAN, so that even those of us, in Blue States, would be affected, we get accused of ‘ fear mongering’.
How is it fear mongering when this is what you say is your goal?

And, yes, Body Autonomy is on the ballot in November. More pointedly, in states like Florida. But, it’s on the ballot everywhere. There will be ramifications when it comes to body autonomy based on who wins in November 2024.

I have written before that my go to person for what’s happening with reproductive choice around this country is Jessica Valenti.
She recently has taken on the issue of ‘ fear mongering’ about a National Abortion Ban head on.

I’m seeing so many Republican women talking about a national abortion ban as a Democratic ‘scare tactic’ – they’re repeating the GOP talking point that they’ll never have enough votes for a federal ban.

So let me tell you why that doesn’t matter & they can ban abortion anyway

The first thing another Trump administration would do is replace the head of the FDA and reverse approval of abortion medication. Right off the bat, they’re doing away with 63% of abortions.

Then they’ll replace the head of the DOJ. The new lead will interpret the Comstock Act – a 19th century law that bans the mailing of ‘obscene’ materials – as applicable to abortion.

That means no shipping not only of abortion pills – but tools or supplies clinics need

Ultimate source of success! – Silent Songs of Sonsnow

“Cultivating a close, warm-hearted feeling for others automatically puts the mind at ease. It helps remove whatever fears or insecurities we may have and gives us the strength to cope with any obstacles we encounter. It is the ultimate source of success in life.”

Peace of mind! – Silent Songs of Sonsnow

“While many people consider sensory experience as the main source of happiness, really it is peace of mind. What destroys peace of mind is anger, hatred, anxiety and fear. Kindness counters this—and through appropriate education we can learn to tackle such emotions.”

Songs I Like (23) | beetleypete

Yvonne Elliman is a Hawaiian musical theatre singer and actress who featured on the soundtrack of the film. She began her career in London, before being cast as Mary Magdalene in the musical ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’, going on to tour with the production and star in the film adaptation. She later toured with Eric Clapton’s band as a vocalist and got a recording contract. She was asked to record this song for the new film, and it went on to become number one in America.

To this day, Yvonne still performs occasionally at music festivals and charity concerts.

How bison are healing the land – Darcy Hitchcock

With that, the large bovines have helped improve the ecosystem, allowing for the growth of grass and native plants, creating nesting environments for birds, attracting amphibians, and even bringing back formerly native animals.

The endangered black-footed ferret and the swift fox can now be found wandering around Fort Belknap, demonstrating nature’s resilience as long as we allow it to thrive.

As we come to the close of celebrating National Library Week, I would like to reshare this 2021 post of awe-inspiring libraries from around the world. If you can’t visit one of these, no problem. You can create your own library space in your home. Enjoy the tour!

Reading is one of my fundamental leisure pursuits. Typically, our libraries look like a plain ole library. It’s practical and not very exciting. But what if you stepped into one of these libraries pictured here? Would you be compelled to read more, to walk around in awe and stare at the architecture and artwork, or would these picturesque buildings inspire you to imagine the impossible and create more?

I think at first, I would be mesmerized by the architecture, the artwork, and the carefully crafted, detailed elements, then I would probably read more. Well, maybe not immediately, but eventually, I would get around to reading, perhaps not in these surroundings because most, if not all of my time would probably be spent gawking. There’s no doubt, however, that by merely looking at the photos of these exquisite libraries around the world, each visit would invite me to explore more! Why not take a virtual tour of these artistic institutions? Talk about a “WOW” factor.
