« The Earth does not belong to Man, Man belongs to the Earth. Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself. » | Barbara Crane Navarro

« Will you teach your children what we have taught our children? That the earth is our mother? What befalls the earth befalls all the sons of the earth.
This we know – the earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth. All things are connected like the blood that unites us all. Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself. »
- Chief Seattle, from a speech in 1854 during the governor of Washington’s visit to a council of local tribal chiefs

Every part of global capitalist society is failing to make the « transformational changes » needed to avert the most disastrous consequences of the climate crisis concerning the energy sector, industrial agriculture, transportation, finance and technology.
Not one is altering their business model or encouraging the modification of rampant consumerism in order to avoid 1.5 degrees Celsius in global warming beyond the pre-industrial era, the critical target of the Paris climate agreement. It may already be too late to avoid even worse climate outcomes.
Most companies and political parties avoid making significant changes by tacking a « green » label on business as usual.

The recent IPCC Sixth Assessment Report concluded that human activity; the burning of fossil fuels and massive deforestation for agribusiness and extractive industries is the « unequivocal » cause of climate change, and has already unleashed devastating changes around the globe with more to come.
Meanwhile, most of the colonizing countries of the G-20 continue their destructive extractive practices unabated, all over the globe, as indigenous peoples and their allies struggle against them in order to protect water sources, forests, people, and the rest of the living world.

We are the deciders in our own lives and we can choose now to boycott products from deforestation; gold, palm oil, beef, soy, exotic wood, gem stones, etc.
Please choose to not purchase items that are transported from 3000 kilometers away and prefer locally-sourced, in-season products.
Buy less, repair, reuse, recycle and share.
We can choose to not contribute to the destruction and, instead, help mitigate the damage in order to insure a more viable future.

Did the house choose them? – Belladonna’s Flashlight
Every show about selling or purchasing a home made it seem as though the buyers or sellers were making the decision. But after seeing what Eliza has seen, she’s sure it’s just the opposite. This personal realization has completely changed her perspective.
Eliza, a mere 12-year-old, was oblivious to the unexpected secrets that the house held. The mystery, like a shroud, enveloped her innocent mind, shielding her from the eerie truths. As she explored the house, she often felt a presence, as if someone was walking alongside her.
Every so often, she stopped walking and turned around, expecting to see someone looking back at her. With a puzzled look on her face and an exhale of relief, she turned back around and hoped that she would feel the presence of whatever that was go away.
It never did!
Although Eliza was only 12 years old, she was acutely aware that the house her parents had chosen was not just new but also steeped in the land’s history. Like all lands, the land had a story to tell, a story that predated the arrival of the builders.
When her three sisters, brother, mom, and dad moved into the house, their family dynamics instantly changed. Her father’s discomfort around them was palpable. If Eliza or one of her siblings entered a room he was in, he would startle as if the room was ablaze and rush to another room, or he would vanish for days at a time.
When he finally made his way back home, Eliza’s mom would tell her and her siblings to run and hug him and tell him how much they missed him. She warned them that if they didn’t, he would leave again and not come back.
So, with a heavy heart, they would hug him and pretend that they missed him, but deep inside, they all knew that he was not who he used to be. The house had already claimed his soul.
To be continued!
You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

Trump mixes up words, swerves among subjects in off-topic speech – The Washington Post
He spoke of “a million Rambos.” “Turnarounds” and “gotaways” and “dead-head spending.” He mixed up Iran with North Korea and strained to pronounce United Arab Emirates. He marveled at Hurricane Helene coming so late in the storm season, which typically runs through November. He falsely claimed government agencies can’t name the U.S. population, and he compared the conflict between Israel and Iran to “two kids fighting in the schoolyard.”
Trump, 78, often speaks in a digressive, extemporaneous style that thrills his fans at large-scale rallies. But Tuesday’s event, in front of almost entirely reporters, was especially scattered and hard to follow. Polls show voters’ concerns about Trump’s age and fitness have increased since President Joe Biden, 81, withdrew and was replaced as the Democratic nominee by Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trump spoke slowly and appeared tired. It was his second stop of the day, and he has picked up the pace of campaigning in recent weeks.
He also repeatedly praised predominantly White countries such as Denmark, Norway and Sweden while emphatically warning against immigrants from Congo in Africa. And he again said migrants crossing the U.S. southern border were taking “Black and Hispanic jobs,” a characterization that many Americans have found offensive and economists said was false.
“They come from, from the Congo in Africa,” Trump said at the event at Discovery World, a science and technology museum a couple of miles from where the Republican National Convention was held in July. “Many people from the Congo. I don’t know what that is.”

Nurses on horseback riding to the rescue | Local News | wataugademocrat.com – North Carolina
A group of nurses is working to transport supplies and medical help to people in difficult-to-reach areas with an old-fashioned means of travel: horseback.
“We heard you guys got hit pretty hard obviously so we put together crews that can go out with some folks with backcountry experience to be able to access more remote areas and bring medical care out there if they need it,” said Mollie Brooks, who helped organize the effort.
They had approximately 25 horses and people staging to help out. They also had a farrier onsite incase any got hurt. Brooks said they worked with the sheriff’s office to help organize the efforts as everyone helping out there is not from the area…
