Yesterday’s message was a little heavy on my heart. In our spirits, amid these trying times, we seek and pray for peace, although at times it seems so far out of reach. I don’t think we will ever get rid of those power-hungry, out-of-control, and unfiltered people and regimes destined to do whatever the heck they want to do. As dismal as that seems, I still believe in the power of love and hope. While it looks like they are in control, stripping away our peaceful voices, we must roar in unifying numbers to silence their voices.
Today, I turn to one of my unifying go-to songs by Diana Ross, “Reach Out And Touch (Somebody’s Hand). When I attended her concerts or watched her on TV, this song was one that she ended her shows with and a song that brought tears to everyone’s eyes, as the audience clasped each other’s raised hands swaying from side to side in the air, unified in peace. Sometimes it seems like our peaceful efforts are futile, yet that does not keep us from trying. As long as there is good, evil is determined to lurk in our midst, to disrupt and corrupt good. If evil refuses to take a day off, then good shouldn’t either. If hatred doesn’t take a day off, then neither should love.
