Quite often we think about the things we’ve done, and the things we do, that can have an impact on the things which are to come, and decisions we may have to rethink for the future. In moments of quietude this morning, I sit here watching outside as the wind blows against a cloudy sky, amid the colossal devastation of images I think about. What’s going on with the wars around the world, the hurricanes and tropical storms wreaking havoc along the coastal plains, and the devastating wildfires and earthquakes sweeping across many lands is not far from my mind.
I often question my actions or inactions, wondering if I made the best and wisest decisions using the information I have along with the lessons I learned to condition my renewed awareness with decency, respect, and order. Beginning a new week, I must begin renewing my conduct, character, and conversation. There was an old hymnal that included the following words I sang in the Junior Choir growing up in church, “May the work I’ve done speak for me; may the life I lived speak for me. The work I’ve done, it seems so small, sometimes it seems like nothing at all.” I’m reminded of gratitude and a thirst for life!
No matter how big or small, it is my desire to make my portion of the world a better place somehow, sown with love, peace, joy, and encouragement. Everyone wants to leave their mark in life, I simply want mine to be constructive, courageous, and optimistically infused with genuine love. I think if we could look back on generations past, and reflect on the accomplishments as well as the mistakes or atrocities that took place, we can pick up the mantle and vow to do better, and be better human beings, humanitarians, the keepers for enhancing creation and contributors of hope.
Make this the most FANtabulous day everyone!
