FOTD 5th August 2024: Kalenchoe | Chronicles of an Anglo Swiss

This is the third time my kalanchoe is flowering again after getting it two months ago. The flowers die and disappear, but I continue to give it water just once a week, and the flowers appear again.

May the Way I Live My Life Speak for Me | From Behind the Pen

Quite often we think about the things we’ve done, and the things we do, that can have an impact on the things which are to come, and decisions we may have to rethink for the future. In moments of quietude this morning, I sit here watching outside as the wind blows against a cloudy sky, amid the colossal devastation of images I think about. What’s going on with the wars around the world, the hurricanes and tropical storms wreaking havoc along the coastal plains, and the devastating wildfires and earthquakes sweeping across many lands is not far from my mind.

I often question my actions or inactions, wondering if I made the best and wisest decisions using the information I have along with the lessons I learned to condition my renewed awareness with decency, respect, and order. Beginning a new week, I must begin renewing my conduct, character, and conversation. There was an old hymnal that included the following words I sang in the Junior Choir growing up in church, “May the work I’ve done speak for me; may the life I lived speak for me. The work I’ve done, it seems so small, sometimes it seems like nothing at all.” I’m reminded of gratitude and a thirst for life!

No matter how big or small, it is my desire to make my portion of the world a better place somehow, sown with love, peace, joy, and encouragement. Everyone wants to leave their mark in life, I simply want mine to be constructive, courageous, and optimistically infused with genuine love. I think if we could look back on generations past, and reflect on the accomplishments as well as the mistakes or atrocities that took place, we can pick up the mantle and vow to do better, and be better human beings, humanitarians, the keepers for enhancing creation and contributors of hope.

Make this the most FANtabulous day everyone!

Now Available in Paperback!

 ON AUGUST 5, 2024

My short chapbook, Lunar Gazing Haiku, is now available in paperback on Amazon.com! The Kindle version quickly became a Amazon New Release in four categories after its release in June. I decided to go ahead and create the paperback version for those people who like hands-on books and to school myself in using the paperback services on KDP. My next release will come out in September, and I wanted to make sure I knew how to publish both the Kindle and paperback versions. I might even try creating a hardback one of these days!

This California COVID surge is stronger, longer-lasting than expected, surprising experts – Los Angeles Times

Coronavirus levels in California wastewater have surpassed the peaks seen in each of the last two summers, according to data estimates released Friday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which run through the week ending July 27. Coronavirus levels in sewage have been “high” or “very high” for eight consecutive weeks.

“This particular surge … is fairly robust and long-lasting, lasting a little longer than I thought that it would. It’s certainly very different from last summer,” Hudson said.

California is one of 43 states, as well as the District of Columbia, with “high” or “very high” coronavirus levels in wastewater.
