Sing A Song… – Kaushal Kishore

When we sing, our bodies sweetly hum,

To notes that dance and softly strum…

Each breath draws deep, a life renewed,

With oxygen and blood that course through…

.

Facial muscles relaxes, youth preserved,

In melodious lyrics, so well-deserved…

Throat and palate muscles strong and clear,

Snoring fades, sleep apnea disappears…

.

For those who’ve lost their way in mind,

A song can help, a joyousy path to find…

As happy and anti-stress hormones rise,

Blood pressure drops, and pain subsides…

.

The tiny sacculus within the ear,

Finds delight in every note it hears…

With every breath, the body sings,

Lungs and heart find strength in wings…

.

When people join in, their hearts align,

In harmony, their rhythms intertwine…

It’s not the voice or how notes ascend,

But in the act, their hearts transcend…

.

In duets or choruses, the joy resounds,

Confidence boosts, stress unwounds…

Concentration sharpens, happiness grows,

Mental health and memory, as moments flow…

.

If you want to lift your mood and mind,

And leave your worries and stress behind…

Let go of fears, and just sing with glee,

Be yourself, original, wild and carefree…

.

Sing for your own joy, let your heart be light,

But keep in mind, don’t be a noise-filled blight…

Let not your off-key tunes cause others strife,

For their peace and joy are part of your life…

.

Just a Couple of Things … | Filosofa’s Word

Herein lies the difference between the two people running to occupy the Oval Office next year:

Remember all of Trump’s campaign rallies back in 2015-2016 when he was running against Hillary Clinton?  Remember how the crowds at his rallies would endlessly chant “Lock her up!  Lock her up!”?  And never, not one single time, did Trump do anything to stop them, and in fact he smiled and encouraged the chants.

Fast forward to this past Tuesday, when Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz held a rally in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.  The crowd began to chant “Lock him up!”   But Kamala Harris was having none of it.

“Well, hold on,” she said, holding out her hand as if to placate the crowd. “You know what, the courts are going to handle that part of it. What we’re gonna do is beat him in November.”

She laughed, and the crowd roared.

THAT, my friends, is professionalism, the difference between an adult and a spoiled brat.  Just one more of a long list of things that highlight the 180° difference between the two candidates!

While Hillary Clinton had not broken any law, was not under investigation nor had any criminal charges pending against her, Donald Trump has been convicted on 34 felony counts thus far (more charges are pending in other delayed cases) that could net him a maximum of up to four years in prison, so the chant to “lock him up” is more authentic than the one against Hillary ever was.  Nonetheless, I’m glad to see Kamala taking the high road!  It proves which candidate is the better human being…

Jamaica’s Health Ministry urges “caution” as risk of COVID-19 increases – Petchary’s Blog

Today, the Ministry of Health and Wellness put out a warning notice. This is the time of year when many Jamaicans travel for the summer holidays. Jamaicans abroad visit for the Independence holiday, so it’s a two-way street. Families and friends meet up, and there are the summer parties. The Ministry mentions overseas travel as a factor.

Please, take care out there! I think we need to wear masks more often, especially in indoor air-conditioned places and where there are a lot of people. We should know by now that COVID is not a joke, especially for older people and those with serious health conditions. And if you have not already done so, please get vaccinated! N.B. The numbers quoted below are most likely under-estimates, as many cases are not reported in the formal system…

The Company You Keep – Belladonna’s Flashlight

The Company You Keep

Says a lot about you.

I’m a people watcher and pray for God to show me who someone is.

I have three children and always advise them to stay clear from people that aren’t coming with genuine intentions. If the friendship feels off, then it is off. If you can’t be yourself, then don’t lose yourself, especially for folks that are only meant to be in your life for a season.

Have you ever found yourself running around with people you knew were bad for you?

I have, and it was usually because I was bored and looking for a change.

Therefore I went against my better judgment and wasted my time on many fools. I get embarrassed when I sit back and think about how ridiculous these individuals are. And they still are to this very day!

Now it’s one thing to be young or in your early 20s and still learning the process of elimination when it comes to the bad seeds in your life. But if you are in your 30s, 40s, 50s, and up, then you should be slapped. And believe me, I will be first in line to get smacked right in the head.

Story Time About Fools

I was turning 40 when I met a pack of fools. They were a bunch of ladies desperately trying to hang on to their youth. Unfortunately, their actions screamed 15 years old! And here I was, just trying to meet new people, and I had no idea what I had gotten myself into, but very quickly, I learned.

We couldn’t go to dinner or gather for a birthday party without all of their phones being out and taking one picture after another. All I wanted to do was eat, laugh, talk, and enjoy my cocktail. I just wanted a quick little outing without my kids and then come home refreshed and ready to perform all my mommy duties (which never seems to end, and I’m okay with that).

But instead, I ended up venting to my close friends and husband about the night.

There was always side talk during the night about one another, followed by smiles for the camera. And soon, I became so sick of rolling my eyes and venting I knew I had to change my environment.

And I did just that when I remembered an old saying, “You ain’t no better than the company you keep.”

Sometimes we have to check ourselves and ensure we are in good company. The type of company that is productive, loving, supportive, and intellectually moved.

If you’re hanging around a bunch of fools, don’t be surprised when you start looking and acting like a damn fool yourself.

You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!
