So, I am officially overwhelmed. Working in French while speaking Spanish with most of my colleagues (and the occasional PT help from the odd PT or BR co-worker, but I find that for the most part, those I make friends with tend to be native Spanish speakers, for some reason), and trying desperately to learn Portuguese, as I have to function in the language of this country, and am still having difficulty understanding when I have paid for my lunch and someone asks me ‘precisas do Talão’ at the supermarket cafeteria, urghh!! I find that watching shows in PT is helpful, but too easy, as this, for instance, is the first time I have needed to look up anything: ep. 8, minute 30.01/40.06 of A Korean Odyssey, which I have seen already several times in Spanish (and yes, I will point out that I still need to stop several times per episode to read, even if I only need to look up words a few times per episode, with the series 3%…), I still seem to find that almost nothing on Netflix is available spoken in the PT of Portugal  , which is much less clear than the PT spoken by the Brazilians I have spoken with (as I think I mentioned that a few weeks ago I ran into a young lady from Brazil when I was looking for a particular store in a shopping center, and actually had to ask her if she was speaking Spanish, because her PT was so easy to understand that I did not even have to concentrate as I normally do to understand Brazilians). So, as I am exhausted and have little time for keeping up with any language, I will try to start using a standard grid to help me keep in practice with as much as possible while I learn PT.

Texas sues Biden administration to limit teenage access to birth control | Texas | The Guardian

Ken Paxton, the Texas attorney general, has sued the Biden administration over a longstanding federal program that provides teenagers access to contraception without parental consent, the state’s latest attack against the federal government’s reproductive healthcare policies.

“This suit is likely a preview of where the Texas GOP – and national Republicans – stand on attacking contraception access,” says Mary Ziegler, a professor at University of California, Davis, School of Law and reproductive health expert. “While Republicans say they don’t want to take aim at contraception, this is another sign that this is actually where we’re headed.”
